Might sound silly, but can you get kit car insurance on a modified road car. I now alot of kit cars are based on conversions around a chassis and engine such as metros... so why not.

Reason i ask is that ive fitted the 1.4 stilo engine in my cinq and along with most things being changed, just a thought whether it would work out cheaper trying to get kit car insurance rather than insurance with highly modified car.

Think i will risk embarrasing myself and phone a few companies later.

I would assume it all depends on what the insurance companies recognise or interpret as a "Kit-car" Given that your Seicento was built from scratch in Italy by people named Mario, Giovanni Fabio etc and not in a shed by yourself from a large box of various bits and pieces............. I will hazard a punt and say you are going to find yourself on a looser (y)
