Hi guys

Just purchased a Y reg Jtd but it only came with 1 blue key, and there is no remote control button on it.

Does this mean:-

1. I can get a spare key cut as a clone from this one?

2.I am unable to use a remote control key for the car as I don't have a red key?

I don't want to spend a lot of cash as I am not sure how long I am going to keep the car for anyway. The insurance quote I had was from Quinn who went into administration during the 3 hrs between getting the quote and arriving home after purchasing the car ready to start the policy. Quotes then suddenly went from £740 to £2500 per annum to add him on to the insurance.
 
The read key has no remote either way, the blue keys have them. The blue key can be copied by any better locksmith with no problem.

The blue key we have doesn't have a button for the remote - is that normal?

If I get a new blue key with remote button how do I get it to work, if it is possible?
 
would think it never had remote locking - my JTD didn't.


You have 2 options.


Get a remote relay and swap it for the standard relay.... quite rare to find now

Get a cheap £30 alarm with the locking output, attach it to the locking wire and when you press the alarm button it locks the car - dissalarm/ unlock.

Do you think a 1.4 would have done?

i got the r/c/l marea key (i think) but led dnt work.Was thinking of getting a working key and puttin chip in that hoping my rcl would then work?

How do I find out if mine did originally?

It is the SX 105 JTD.
 
it doesn't... the JTD sx didn't come with remote locking. it doesn't even come with a fiat alarm!


You need a remote relay or a £30 cheap alarm to get r/c/l

Damn lol

Any recomendations, or just any basic alarm with CL module?
 
so if i got a working key i would then need the remote relay?
Then again,there are those meta systems that are around £50..As said,it probably would be cheaper just to get an alarm for it that operates c/l :)

The meta relay is very hard to find now. that just invoved swapping the relay . I sold mine when i got the alarm fitted
 
yer thats the thing,finding 1 :s

Seen some cheap Cobra alarms on ebay,might invest in one of those :)

For 60 euros you may as well go for the alarm option anyway.
 
Thats what i was thinking, A bit more work but you get an alarm as well for a third of the price
