Daz, I just think you got the warning lights mixed up. I wasn't trying to do you down. Now I've put Fiat's instructions up, it might save a few repeated questions...

Thanks Pete & Daz,

Pete was correct it is the key symbol with the word code written in it..
Problem seems to have dissapered for now..
Although next weekend I'm changing the engine, so odds on the fiat gremlins will be out in force with the electrics then...

Pete, the CODE light does stay on if the battery voltage is getting low. I know this because:

1) its happened to me when my battery was dying
2) My local dealer confirmed it when I checked with them (not knowing at the time the dead battery was related to the code light staying on)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Keycode Help Required

"The Code warning light is a no-charge warning light"

was also taken from the Haynes manual...

Either i read it wrong (which was probably the case..lol), or the haynes manual has an error...

Thanks for the correction Pete...

Tom, when the system does its self test, one of the things it tests for is for is voltage drop, but that has to be drastic and Anglowelsh said his engine turned over no bother whatever the weather.

Tom

What ways of testing what electric thingy is the problem? I can measure on a very cold day (-15) my battery was at 12.5V but perhaps this doesnt truly means is 100% fine the battery...how can i find this out? How to know if its the alternator? Etc... ;)

12.5v at -15 is fine if your engine was off. When your engine is running, it should be about 14v.
