OK so today has been one of those days, my laptop died of Pepsi overdose and then running out the door to catch the fireworks this evening my Multi key got stuck between the house door and frame and bent, then snapped of course when I tried to rescue it...
My spare disappeared a few months ago probably to never be found again (or more likely to return the week after I don't have my multi anymore) so ism stuck...

My question to you is about the immobiliser chip.. I thought I,d get away with having just another key (AND spare this time) cut but not coded, but will I?
And can anyone cut it from the number or just fiat?

Help help help please, I could just scream about all this...

If you can,get a second hand ign lock and key. Use original key with chip, and tape it to the Ariel , then tape Ariel away from lock. The ecu will think you have the correct key and start every time.

So something like this.....

(although this specific one says it isn't suitable for my vehicle)

fit this to the car, use this key to start and have my original snapped, chipped one attached to the aerial...?
Sorry if this seems obvious to everyone....

oh and thanks for your reply.... in the meantime I have had a key cut, which only turned clockwise so could only open from o/s, lock it from n/s and not open boot at all :bang:

then got another key cut which works perfectly but the happiness I felt about that lasted only to the first time I stalled the car (luckily at a petrol forecourt) and had to fiddle about getting my old chipped, snapped key into the right position whilst trying to keep my new non chipped one to stay in the ignition.... can only imagine how stressful that would be in traffic, not to mention embarrassing....

I've not been brave enough to try and get the chip out of the snapped one yet, as I've been recommended to do, because I don't want to be stuck without a driveable car in case i mess up.

If you have cut key, that is better! Remove plastic cowl slid the round black aerial forward and tape original key to it. And strap or sick it some were out of the way. And use new key you had cut.
