i have just done the head gasket on my mk2 punto and now after putting it back together the yellow key code symbol stays on and it wont start
are there any ways of fixing this other than taking it to fiat

100% reconnected all earths properly?

All you can do isr etrace your steps, if it was ok beforehand it must be something you have (or haven't ) done.

I take it you did not replace the head and/or throttle body? If you have put another head and throttle body on you will need to change over the engine ECU

Thought I'd mention it, though it sounds like you did a straight forward head gasket

Sounds like a problem with the engine ECU so I would start there (located behind throttle body) Check that both the wiring connectors are secure, if they are, unplug them and check everything looks undamaged and then reconnect.

yeah straight foward head gasket, had the head skimmed and tested, i did clean throtle body with carb cleaner, will check ecu plugs again i just cant understand why the immobiliser would kick in after doing head gasket, is there any way of bypassing it, :bang:

No way around it as far as I know

It's got to be a basic wire not connected properly, unless the ECU took a knock when you took the head off
