I have a problem that i was hoping someone could help me with...

The battery in my 1997 Fiat Cinquecento has recently died on me and I have noticed that every time i put the key and turn it, one of the lights that comes up is a symbol of a key with code under it. Any ideas what it means and how i can sort it out???:confused::confused:

Thanks

Thanks....

problem is, the car doesnt start at all... have had the battery on charge and it started just the once and then nothing so i've put the battery back on charge. the symbol comes up everytime i try to turn the enginge over but nothing happens

thanks

The red/burgundy key is the master key, it shouldn't be able to loseits code. The blue covered keys can lose their codes.

If still no reaction, disconnect the battery, hold the two connections together for a minute or so, then reconnect and retry.

To reprog. your blue keys from the red one...

1. insert red key into ignition and turn ignition on, key code light will come on then go out.
2. remove red key and insert first blue key, turn ignition on, ket code light will come on then go out.
3. remove 1st blue key then insert 2nd blue key and turn ignition on, key code light will come on then go out.
4. remove 2nd blue key then insert red key, turn on ignition, ket code light wil come on then go out.
5. remove red key.

thats it easy as that, dont remove a key until the key code light goes out, then you only have a few seconds between the key code light going out and inserting the next key. if you take too long you will need to start again the whole process again.

From this post a couple of years back :)

thanks
