I have had my TA punto at this garage for a week, today they phoned me and told me there was a crack in my windscreen (wasn't there when I dropped the car off) they accused me of chipping it and that lead to the crack. I told him it wasn't there when I handed it over, they then wanted me to claim on my insurance, when I asked to speak to the manager he was on his lunch break then when he phoned me back he said he was on a half day holiday. I asked if they had took my car on road test and they denied it, they rang me later saying the had drove it 4 miles and it was cracked before they took it, the manager then phoned me again and said they would pay for it.

Any other bad garage stories?? I think this is the worst ;)

It won't be the only thing I will be checking, they have had the dash out as well any marks on that and they can pay for a new dash too, they soon changed their tone when I told them I was in the motor trade haha

check the work and brand of screen very carefully when you pick it up, if they got one of the national companies to do it it could be a sub standard make of glass and workmanship.

Came home to find my dad had collected my car, the windscreen is non-gen and there is a lot less fuel in it as well as scratches on the head unit

It might be exactly the same glass from the same factory but without the Fiat stamp on it as it wasn't supplied directly to Fiat. It might even be a better standard of glass, who knows? Do Fiat make 'good' glass?

I am sure it meets all required regulations and specifications so I wouldn't worry. More of a concern is the missing fuel and scratches.

last i heard fiat used pilkington and some other good glass make Saint Gobain (Sekurit) iirc. independent fitters normally use pilkington. but some of the national chains get their glass made them selves and its not a good glass. they also have mad targets of 8-10 screens per fitter per day, so you get a rushed bodged job.

It's a pilkington screen, when I went out to it they left scrunched up tape all over my carpets (very sticky) guessing that's what they used to hold the screen while the bonding set

Dear 'twinairturbo'
I am very sorry to hear of your extremely bad experience when you visited our garage, I am the Managing Director and unfortunatley I had not been made aware of the situation that took place whilst your car was with us for repair, and although it was a very unfortunate situation it seems it was not handled very professionally by my service department.
We have been a very small family run Fiat dealership since 1970, and I would really appreciate it you could give me a call or drop me a personal email some time so that we can discuss this and resolve the situation, as we take our customer satisfaction very seriously.
Many Thanks - [email protected]

Well after the above post things are being resolved the managing director has contacted me and this was a one off situation I will be re-visiting the dealer for more work :)
