as most know i'd been like a kid at christmas waiting & watching the weeks tick by for delivery of my new qubo, seems now with dealer issues and mechanical issues i'm totally fed up with the whole thing...

not counting the issues I had with sliding doors etc...

Last week took little lad to nursery got back in the car refused to start...2 and a half hours later RAC tow me to dealer saying it's a problem with the imob fitted in the qubo

all sorted thankfully..

2 days later blue & me decided to pack up refused to do a thing so back to the dealer AGAIN to be told "ah its probably your IPOD thats caused the malfunction" ermmmmm ok anyhoo quick reboot and it's working again

today get into the car on the drive start up to see 2 error lights the "generic" yellow triangle and the yellow engine light neither of which go out..followed then by a beep and message on dash saying "start stop unavailable check engine"

AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH back again to the garage hopefully on monday god alone knows whats the issue this time

I think as the trade say i've bought either a Friday or a Monday morning car!! i'm seriously at the end of my temper now with all this wish i'd never gone for the bloody car in the 1st place

rant over...thanks for listening everyone (y)

Hi Philnicandamy,

Really sorry to hear of all your problems............just wondered if you had changed dealer yet, I know you were thinking of doing so after all the trouble with the sliding doors.

Problem with all these 'modern' cars.........the dealer really needs to know his 'stuff', or else the poor customer suffers.

So just perhaps thats worth thinking about, though I do understand its a access to dealer problem, one thats 50 mile away is 50 mile to many.

Hope all gets sorted, and you get a good summer with no more problems............

Take care, Qube O.

hi phil, i to had problem'slike you from the start, back and forwards to the dealer, first problem violant shake right through the car, 3 times went back keept telling me nothing wrong, the fourth time they changed one engin mount that solved the problem. then back again side strip on tee door kept comeing away, they glued it, a while later it fell of back again, they ordered new strip, so by this time i told them i wanted my money back after a lot of shouting as a goodwill gester gave me a full size spare wheel and fitting kit, which they fitted free, this was 5 months ago, no problemes since, now pleased with the car, as i am sure you will be, once sorted, regards roger.

Thanks guys...just me having a rant after everything thats happened...(and q you are indeed correct switched dealers now who seem a million times better than stoneacre ever where)

fingers crossed I do hope it's getting everything out of its system & I can enjoy another couple of years trouble free!!!

Well....rang the dealers at 8am they happily fit me in ASAP asked if I'd drive or they would collect, drove over waited ten minutes they started work

They hooked everything up came up puzzled..they thought it was the battery changed that..still error...all pointed in the end to alternator..scary on a brand new car less than a year old however they did say it's been a problem in the past especially on fiat 500 with stop start after the last dealer they were superb fingers crossed this is the end of it all

Some time ago I had a new Smart with Stop-Start 'technology' (Quite how they can call a non-running engine part of the 'improved' fuel consumption figures is beyond me).

When I went on the test-drive I had completely forgotten about the S-S stuff and when stopping at a junction, I wasn't aware of the engine stopping and then restarting - it really just sounded like a small person coughed outside behind the car.
It was only when I owned the car and had it on quieter roads (and sadly far more pot-holed ones which is why I sold it again after 6 months) that I joined the Smartmaniacs forum and learned that it's the alternator that doubles as a starter-motor. OK that's only a 3-cylinder engine but I wonder if the Fiat S-S uses the same principle - which could lead to the alternator failing sooner than it should? I was informed that the alternator does the work as it draws less current than a starter motor (fact/fiction?) as in my mind (as well as others) the thought of a lot of S-S in traffic would drain the battery in no time. I was very pleased that I had an override switch to disable the S-S as I couldn't get used to having no motive power there when sitting at traffic lights etc. On the Smart forum someone had designed a circuit that stopped the S-S system coming on by default every time you started up the car afresh - a really good idea! I didn't make it but I still have the circuit diagram. One made it on a piece of veroboard and then tucked it under the switch after wiring it into the connector

I read on the Fiat Professional site with the accompanying pic of the Multijet engine that S-S is built in although that site does contain some fictions and omissions.
(How can it contain an omission - I know..)
