General Just bought a palio today ! :D

hey,

good evening to all. Palios and Siennas are quiet nice cars, and we have then here with us in India for over 5 years now.And they are manufactured in India still. But , as u stated, spare parts are a problem, as all their accessories comes from ITALIAN manufacturers!!OK, we have companies like LUMAX making quality replacement lights, etc here in india, and will noot cost a million!!..Well, both the above are nice cars, but as u pointed above, FIAT dealers all around the globe sucks big time !!..

Well, I myself still driving an UNO, but have driven palio as well as sienna, and both are a class apart..But, still I like my uno bcoz it's cheap, fast and fuel efficent!!:p

See ya and good luck in finding the eye for your cars!!

I went to Turkey the other week and theres hundreds of these things knocking around, including older versions.

I want one!

Yeah thats bcuz one of the main factories for the Palio/Siena/Petra/Albea is in Turkey ( some other locations include South Africa / India / China / Brazil ( main factory I guess )

Welcome Aboard Merry ! Premrajeev :)

Yes I agree my indian friend , Fiat dealers need a BOOT to the ARSE !
I Wonder how fiat ends up giving these idiots dealerships !! I can market a fiat better than they do !!

nevermind , I love my car and I hate my dealer :D i will try to live with it :D

Hi guys... this is Mohamed Mamdouh from cairo Egypt and i am currently searching for a new car to replace my 8 years old lanos, actually it is dad's car and since i am getting married he is going to keep the car so i got to get myself one.

i have drove it hard and fast and it is holding on till now after 90,000 kms... i will need a car that is as reliable as my lanos as my driving is kinda "abrasive", i use one liter of fuel to cover just 8Kms and i need new brakes pads every 7,500 kms and i am currently on my third set of tires... i guess now you have an idea how much strong and reliable my future car should be to cope with what i do to her.

i've been watching the reviews you posted here and i can sum them up in short to be: very nice car but forget about servicing it... right? all of you said it is a great looking car, stable, safe and its performance is good for such a small engine and i am impressed with all that. the problem is as you reffered; the service centers doen't have spares for the car so if i break something i will be in deep trouble.

also i saw the price for this car... 68000LE is too much for a FIAT i recon, i can get another lanos for almost the same price, OK the Palio looks more pretty but at least i will be able to fix my lanos whenever it breaks down.

i also noticed that the post started on June 2006 and we are now in November so can the guys from Egypt give me an update about their Palios during the past period?

has the service issue been solved?
whats the current price for this car?
whats the options list for it?
how long is the current waiting list to get one?

thank you guys for helping me out, i really appreciate it.

P.S: for any info on Daewoos you can get me on www.daewootech.com

Hey there :D

Yes I don't know how but all of the SERVICE / PARTS things has been fixed up , there's 12 Authorized service centers arround cairo and alex now , and one of them is very popular and is just next to me ( Amir & Joseph ) who are also Proton/Citroen/Peugeot authorized service center .

The spare parts are all available now and plenty of them , even thier prices Dropped a bit , My front headlamp used to cost 1200 le , now it just costs 850.. thats a good sign

I just returned from the service center today , the CLUTCH pedal was leaking Clutch oil , the Lower Clutch Master ( so they call it ) Needs to be changed , and of course its inside the warranty .

I've done 3900kms so far , I use the car aggresively too , Shifting at 4000 rpm is minimal to me :D

If you drive aggressively it makes about 8.5 km per Liter , if you drive NORMALLY ends up at 12 km / liter .

Current Price is 68,000 I think .
Waiting lists are short , e.g you book your car , receive it in less than 2 weeks at most ( a friend of mine just booked one a few days ago and he got it after 4 days too ) .

Features remain the same :

Engine :1242CC - 83 HP (5500rpm) 16V Engine

Features / Kits :

Front Electric windows ( Automatic as well )
Rear Windows are manual
Trip Computer ( fuel consumption / trips / bla bla bla )
No cassette / 4 speakers installed tho , antenna installed
Central lock
Electronic coded Key
14" Pirrelli Tires , not sure about their size , but I think they 165/55 or so ..

well... the car seems very pretty indeed and the power delevary of the engine is very nice... it is 3HP less than my 1.5 Lanos so its a good engine.

i am still skeptical towards the spare parts prices... my headlight cost 190LE and my lower clutch pedal leaked oil after 7 years and 72,000 kms.

also 68,000 for this car is too much... it is still a hatchback so why so pricey??

anyways i am not getting a car right away, its still few months till that happens ISA so i will keep an eye on the Palio on the roads here and the feedback you guys give arround here.

thank you for the feedback :)

Hi I'm from Brazil, the country where NEW Palio are developed for the "third world countries".
I have a Palio 1.4 Fire with 30 Years pak (here in Brazil FIAT is celebreting 30th Aniversary), Is a silver one, 4 doors, power windonws, air con, and others confortable thinghs.
A new Palio to March 2007 is coming, with some modifications to become similar the Grand Punto, and others FIAT cars, but the present model will still in production like Palio Fire, here in Brazil all the cheap cars from FIAT is Called FIRE, like: Mille Fire*, Palio Fire and Siena Fire.

* Mille Fire, is the name of UNO S in other countries with 1.0 fire engine.

Omatra Sucks, they dont have spare parts, dont have good technicians
the overall service is bad, even the selling price is very high according to other cars in the Egyptian Market
they recently launched the new grand punto with 1.4L engine and around 70bhp
for 99000LE very high price for poor old engine.
i would go for the Citroen C3 1.6 for the same price and hell lots of options

And yes i agree they are all Liars selling **** to us
everybody please be aware

Well I'm from India and I bought the Multijet 1.3 diesel. I'm awaiting delivery of it soon. The engines a beauty, so is the ride quality. However the interiors look like a relic from the cold war. I think the guys in brazil and elsewhere where they have left hand drive, got the new modified interiors, whereas we were conned into getting an Uno-era dash with cheap plastics and tacky controls. Since I give more priority to drive feel, steering feedback, I ignored this sore fact.

Karim you talk abt a trip computer...wow..the Indian one has a bloody analogue trip meter, and the stock tires are 165/70, which one would need to replace with 185 tires to do justice to the car weight and power. No offences to anybody, but the 1.2litre variant is just plain lame. I test drove it, and with teh a/c on, the damn thing was unbelievably sluggish in its pickup, and unresponsive in the 3rd and 4th gear. The 1.6lire variant is sweet though, and has a 108 PS power rating, and it is bloody wicked. However in India, the Govt squanders from its citizens and we pay one of the highest gasoline rates in the world. The one I bought is rated at 75 PS @ 4000 rpm, and runs on diesel, which is a little cheap than gas, and provides a mileage of 18 km/l. So it was a win win situation. More reports to follow after I get her.

Hey HeyHeyNow :)

Congrats on your palio :)

Yeah I saw the indian palio, you still got the Palio mk2 interiors .

well the Brazilian palio has been halted here .. and now they import the OLD SHAPED Palio/Sienna from China ... which is even worse !

mine is a 1242CC Fire 16V with 80hp on it, I still own it from 2006 ..
Done 52.500 Kms so far and nothing "major" has gone yet but its full of scratches, marks and paint-trades . lol

Yeah the trip computer is nice but its a MINI one unlike the Punto or Grand Punto

Since the car is very BASIC kit ( came with no cassette / front power windows / no abs no airbags ) the trip computer only shows the following :

- Total KMs
- Trip KMs
- Trip Time
- Average Fuel Consumption
- Current Fuel Consumption
- Max Speed Warning ( customizable )

in the more expensive kit levels it also adjusts the headlight altitude and more stuff ..

hope you enjoy yours ;)
