Technical Just bought a lovely Seicento but need help please!

Please can anyone give me some advice I have just bought a lovely 1999 Seicento Sporting. I have a leak from the fuel tank on the seam and I phoned my local Fiat dealer today to ask if it was one of the recalled cars. Hoping to get the fuel tank replaced under the recall but they said it had been checked in 2004 when the recall was first announced and if the tank looked ok then that is the end of it. Does anyone know if that is correct?
If so are they quite easy to fit? Looks like thats another job for my husband!

Easy enough to fit -- lots of penetrating fluid on the bolts first.

But persist with the recall idea -- contact FIAT HQ as a fair number of people have had theirs replaced FOC when they were not strictly within the recall period. A search for petrol tank or a look at the similar threads thingy below should throw a few up.

If it is just a check over and if no repair or replacemnt was made in 04 then you should be entitled to something.

If however there was something done repair wise then you might not be as fortunate, nor fiat be as charitable.

Tanks however are also not too bad pricewise to buy should it come to this

said this 100 times but i had mine done free after 6 years and it wasn't even in the recall.......try a few dealers, adn try fiat UK, or get a dealer to photograph and send the pics off to fiat UK. If its a Sei it's not THAT old,and if you try enough i'm sure you'll have it done gratis
