Over the weekend I was out in my car, watching the chavs at the local carpark wheelspin their brand new 1.2 clio that they got on finance with 1 years free insurance from daddys deposit and suddenly right out of nowhere comes the infamous whoosh sound - from a 306!

I asked the lad what engine was in his pug and he replied 1.9 Turbo Diesel, which my suspicions were confirmed by standing next to it. daga daga daga..

So now I'm thinking to myself, I want a JTD with a dump valve. I can't see any reason why it can't be done, just I vaugely remember Tom saying that diesels work differently.

So why can it be done on 306's and not on Fiats?!?

u cant fit a normal dump valve to a diesel but u can get diesel dump valves been out ages

You don't get the pressure surge as you do with petrol cars which is what normally opens a dump valve. On an oilburner you need a sensor on the throttle that opens the valve when you shut the throttle.

No gain from them, just makes people look at you.

i know someone that has a dump valve on his stilo diesel so obv can be done to fiats to

My Vectra 1.9 CDTi makes that dump valve sound quite often, especially if I accelerate hard in 1st, 2nd or 3rd then change gear or release the throttle. Not quite chav, but still discernable and has turned a few heads ! LOL

Nippy little fecker, that 1.9 BTW :)
