i assume he found a wet test gave better compression than a dry test, which tells you the losses are between the piston ring and cylinder liner. on the 1242 engine this is usually caused by coolant entering the cylinder during a head gasket leak.coolant doesnt compresses as easily as air.he said something about the bore of the block had widened![]()
its not the end of the world, but replacing the piston ring and cylinder liner could easily work out more expensive than fitting a scrapyard block.
