My Tipo has started everyday first time (apart from when i flood the engine) til yesterday and then this morning it wouldn't start at all. checked for spark and none apparent so checking distrubutor but it seems that this is the faulty part. went to me local parts place and as before with every other part its a unit to replace not just a single item so i'm not too impressed. the only real difference today and yesterday is the rain really but its been fine in rain before its just a pain in the arse as i now have to get a lift to college in my friends fiesta which isn't the same :( and his driving isn't too good either! anybody had anything similar and can shed any light on the matter incase its not the distributor?

PS nearly broke my leg pushing it off the drive this morning to get it on the road so i could have a look at it! i have a feeling its turned on me:cry:

Hello!

Check the sensor for the upper dead-point (sorry, i don´t know the correct word for it - i mean the sensor which tells the ECU when the piston of the first cylinder is on the upper point). When the motor doesn´t get a spark, that´s often because the sensor is damaged.

yu mean the crank angle sensor. yes this can play up especially in bad weather. its situated under the cambelt on the crank pully. take it off and clean. if this is not working, then yes, car wont start.:)

The only time mine didn't want to start is when my injector light didn't light up!!!
I was furious but than i hit it with a wrench and the sucker started!!! :slayer:

Hello!

I belive, the ECU didn´t work, when the controllamp didn´t light and the motor didn´t start. Check the electrical supply of the ECU and the two relays in the motorbay.

best wishes ~shar~

fixed it now got a friend who's doing some apprenticeship to have a lookey and it was the distributor that went with the new part its running mucho better mine is one of the carbuerettored ones so i don't think its even got an ECU and if you read the AA car reviews on the tipo then mine is the updated one with the extra few horses and mechanical everything lol:cool: http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/carsearch/carsearch_cartest_reports.jsp?carTest=carTest&latestReports=n&modelID=A6&modelName=Tipo&makeName=Fiat
