it dies. than it shows "key code"

our punto sometimes dies during driving. it always happens in low gears (3rd max.). when the engine dies, battery and oil warning light comes on.
than i restart the engine with no problem but orange "key code" light stays on. on the next start up it is like nothing happened till next "blackout". the mechanic said the battery is a bit weak already. it happenes quite often like every 2days. i'm driving with spare key and don't know, if the problem is present with main key also. can mentioned problem be in connection with the battery or what?? what's minimum voltage for the battery? have multimeter so i can check it

I believe the key code light is on, indicating that it had lost power.

The oil and battery light will come on as the engine has cut out or stalled, this is normal.

Could be loose battery cables or loose earths. I would check the battery terminals are clean (take battery cables off and clean with bicarb and water then dry) and the put cables on tight, a weak battery wont cause the car to cut out once its running.
