Hi Guys

ive been havign a problem with the light going on and off
so finally the light stayed on tfor me to perform a diagnostic

its came back with

i) Lambda Sensor before Cat problem
is this a big fix..costs of part and labour possible?


ii) Manifld Pressure sensor problem
is this a big fix..costs of part and labour possible?


iii) now when i drive, although it takes abotu 30 secs for the car to get ready..if i drive sooner it a bit jerky....howwever when i press the accelrate pedal all i hear is a gushing water sound...i have taken all airlocks out of the car...so the temp and the heater works absolutely fine..so where is this water gushing from?? its only whne i press the pedal??
 
What you hear is air in the manifold, the sensor aint giving right info of the pressure.

When you say lambda before cat, I assume you have a 1,2.

The lambda is easy to change and cost around 50 quid and the intake sensor is around 70 quid, also a easy job to change.

But I would change the lambda first, then see how things go from there. Then if the problem still resides, change the sensor.

how did air get into the manifold in the first place?

hmmm..

yes i have a 1.2

the prices seem reasnable..i expected much more..i belive shop4 parts will help

any ideas about the water?
 
The manifold sensor will probably be ok, when i had a 1.2 stilo on a 03 plate i had the diag done and the manifold thing came up on that, turns out when it was cold it somehow lied to itself, once cleared it was fine for another 4 years up till i sold it.
 
yeh was told it shoudl be fine in the short term

i rather fix it early in case something else props up

unsure if this can cause a car to break down etc..

Sven has answered you question already. Its not water, it just sounds like it.
 
Hi mate i have this probelm on mine.It wud stay on then go off without me realisin,it wud stay off for a good 2 days and come back on.Last time i drove my car its still o and wont go out.
1. Altho i did take it to kwik fit 2 get it on the diag machine (Altho they cudnt test it due to rong plug) they did however test the Lambda Sensor and it seemed fine and it was doing its job..
cud it be no.2 dya think,what about coil pack as some1 said its common fault?
3. I ALWAYS leave car to warm itself up 1st before settin off,revs high then settles nicely just under 1k.So doesnt seem to be any problems there and i hear no water gushin.
Only probs i have,is when the light is on,when i change gear it sorta jerks.When light is off,its all fine + runs spot on.

hmm its def not the coil pack..
i had it replaced so despite the same light coming on..it prob had to be reset


the rev does go slightly high i just need to wit for it to warm up until it settles

the isse you have is the same as mine.

but i hear the water/air sound! hmm so do i need to repalce the lambda sensor
or the manifold pressure sensor

thats what im thinking..i can do both..is labour an expensive job??
 
yer mine been doin it for a while but wont go out at all now.Im just wondering if mine like you have pointed out could be down to the manifold pressure sensor :s
With the car reving high firstly is normal,(well especially 1st time i start the car each day)Just warms itself up and pumps everythin thru.My car hasnt had a service for a good while so tbh mines due a good 'un lol
My car is actually off the road at mo but i would like to know what is actually up with it :)
 
sorry mate,labour depends on what they think.They cud either charge u a set price or just charge you by hour.Normally in regions of £35+ ph..Im not really sure on your fault tbh mat,ive posted as i seem to be having same probs as u lol
 
HI JUST WONDERING CAN THE ABOVE AFFECT YOUR HEATER OUTPUT AT ANYTIME.. I HAVE COLD AIR AND WAS PONDERING WHETHER THIS WAS LINKED?
