hi everyone, just a quick question, on ebay for the 1.3mjet is a tuning chip that plugs between the ecu and rail pressure sensor, it 90 pounds and says it can boost my 75hp to 90hp - (id post the url but because i haven posted posts i cant post urls!!??!!) does it sound leg and worthy?, would it void my warranty as my baby is on 5 moths old? and if i was to take it off when it comes to like a service,could fiat tell that it has been on?

Steer well clear of devices like this on Ebay, and only buy from reputed companies. Use Ebay if you know exactly what you are looking for.

The chances are that it would void your warranty...BIG TIME! So keep well away from the engine bay until your warranty period expires. Thats what I'm doing with my Bravo...but already know when I will be purchasing my GSR induction kit...and on what day I will be fitting it! :devil:

No. If FIAT could of easily gotten more power without loosing reliability do you think they would of done it (would be great selling point). Yes, it would get you a little more power but the tradeoff is it will void your warranty and the life of your engine will most likely be shorter.

I dont think you really know a lot about these "ebay chips" the £80-£100 ones arent the most complicated of plugins but they will work quite well, and they wont make your car run lean, you can only get more power by pumping more diesel in. If I was the op I would go to somewhere that sells them then see whats what.

He did say he would take it off when it comes to service time. It would only shorten his engine life if he flogged it but that would happen anyhow.

We have a forum trader, TMC Motorsport who offers what is effectively the same product for 400 odd quid... but theirs is that price for a reason... because it will work well. they can prove it works with graphs i expect. bet that bloke cant.

Hi, thankfully ours aren't over £400. We have a Value Kit offered to forum members for £115 inc. Vat AND DELIVERY, unlike most Ebay type units this kit is digital, controlled by micro-processor and programmed with a map. This unit will not cause over-fuelling at idle or any of the other nasties you get with cheap analogue units.
This kit used to sell for nearly £300 but the company who manufactures for me has compacted the PCB board down and used a plastic instead of alluminium casing to reduce cost and make the price very competitive.

The more expensive kit we sell is £349 (Premium Kit) and has connections to both fuel rail and turbo, it would only be needed on cars with DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) so you will most likely be ok to use the Value kit. Ours gives around the same 15-17 BHP and 35NM which sounds small but as a perecentage of the cars original power it's actually about a 20% increase which you will definately notice.
This kit as with all the tuning kits we sell comes with 30 day money back guarantee if your not 100% happy and 3 years product warranty.

35BHP is almost a 50% increase on your cars standard power, if you think thats a safe amount to add by all means go ahead, I absolutely don't, your brakes and suspension are not designed to cope with an extra 50% power.

I youre right I was forgetting the op's engine size the 30-35BHP seems to be around the 100-120BHP mark.

A bit more detailed than how I put it but correct and exactly what I was trying to convey. When manufacturers increase BHP on cars there is usually a lot more work done to modify the car than just a change of mapping, the engine is quite often modified, larger intercooler fitted, uprated suspension and brakes, sometimes larger wider wheels and tyres amongst other things.
In my opinion the performance of any car should not be increased beyond 30% if no upgrades are being made to suspension and brakes, otherwise you end up with a fast car that can't handle bends at speed and can't stop quickly enough.

Yes, when you hear talk of F1 cars etc, they generally mention 0 - 100 and back to zero times.
I think anyone who buys a lump of plastic off ebay & expects better performance really deserves all they get (or generally, what they don't get!).

When you install a new radio, you check out all its functions, when you install a new bulb, you switch it on/off to make sure it works.
When you install the ebay powerbooster, how do you know it's doing what the seller promised?
Majority of car owners don't have the wherewithall to check for increased power and so rely wholly on the honesty of the seller. Because of this, there's a lot of dodgy sellers on ebay (there are genuine sellers but it's a breeding ground for pond life).

ok then, thanks for all the info everyone. i know about the ones for a tenna and that are dodgy, but being a hundred i thought they might be a bit more reputable. however im talking to, and considering a box from tmc motorsport, who so far i havent heard any negatives from anyone.
