Does anyone know if the HGT 155 model (registered Aug 2001, Y reg) has an OBD2 socket. I have done a bit of research and its still not clear. The Fiat offical workshop manual (bought on ebay on a CD) does not say anything about this, but it maybe just that the manual is older than 2001.
I gather there are dedicated diagnosis sockets in the engine bay, reading various posts but petrol cars made 2001 and later are OBD2 compliant.

Does anyone know for sure if the HGT 155 has an OBD2 connection? If so any ideas where it is located? I had a look under the drivers side fusebox and under the steering and could not find anything obvious. Perhaps someone owns the 155 model and knows where this socket it and possibly point me in the right direction.

Am asking mainly to see if I can purchase/get a software for my laptop and plug it in to carry out fault diagnosis, read/erase codes etc. Any guidance about these will also be helpful

Cheers fellas.

Hi,

My 2001 1.2 had an OBDII socket in the space above the pedals - looks like an old parallel port for printers.
You can get a reader from ebay for as little as £10 (how much i got mine for and it works) There is also Freeware available.

I'll try and find the name of the software and a link for the reader i got when i get home.

Thanks Ed, will have a look again and and see if I can find it.....

The one i've got which worked is Ebay item:120221990690 this is also the seller I bought it from. Delivery was quick. If you haven't got a serial port on your laptop / computer then you will need a serial (rs232) -> usb convertor.

The softwares you can use are listed on the ebay item (where i found out about them from) the one i use is scantool (http://www.scantool.net/?mode=browseSoftware)

Pretty sure it does as I had my old 1.2 T reg remapped by Angeltuning via the ODBII port.

I guess going into something like your ECU is like going in to your Computer BIOS settings - If you change something by accident you end up with a shagged ECU and an £800 bill at an intellectual guess.

Common Sense says that's a bad idea.

not to mess anythign about just purely to have somethign cool on my cars screen lol
