Is my 20v Running Hot

I had a problem with the heater matrix lost water and the car boiled over.

I bi-passed the matrix now but the car does seem to be running a little hotter than before, ie creaping upto halfway in traffic but on first notch when moving.

Do you think this indicates i have blowen the hed gaskit and if so how much to have it done.


Whats a good price.

Temperature wise i'd say that sounded fine.
Mine tends to run on the 2nd-3rd notch and creep up to halfway if sat in stationary traffic.

The temp should not be on the first notch when moving. it should sit between the 2nd and 3rd notches (just under half way) when cruising, and rise slightly in traffic (you should hear the fan cut in).
Sounds like you need a new thermostat anyway, they are a about £35 and fairly easy to fit.
Check the radiator (Fiat price approx £130 - £150 depending on a/c), as they go rotten at the bottom at about 5-6 years old (R reg), and it may not be cooling properly. If your heater matrix is gone, then I would suggest that you either fix it or sell the car now, cos in the winter you'll have no defrost....
