Hi, new member but lurked and haven't had any reason to post until now.

My 2010 Fiat Bravo Multijet Eco 1.6 has immobilised itself. AA was able to start it spraying in some fuel and thought either high pressure pump or fuel pump was at fault. Towed to garage near workplace and they checked the fuel system and all was ok. Fault was reported on the key (it's the spare) but turns out that was ok and the real fault was located in the bcu (body control unit?) which was failing the key and immobilising everything. The bcu was sent off to a specialist for diagnosis and repair but they sent it back saying they don't deal with that particular unit (?). Bit weird as apparently they said (to the garage) they could do it on the phone. Car has been sat in the garage for two weeks now.

Looks like I will have to tow it to a dealer to get a repair ... unless someone here knows better and has encountered the same issue ? Knows somewhere nearby with expertise (West Midlands/Worcs) ?

At 190k miles, it's valued at less than £300 [carwow, if that matters]. Time to cut my losses or persevere ?

Absolutely don't want to go to main dealer as have had dreadful diagnosis and costs in past. Once bitten etc. Prior to this happening glow plugs were replaced ... possibly connected ? I've read here some threads about wiring damage, loose connectors causing this but would expect that would be picked up by the garage currently hosting the car ?

Any advice/thoughts welcomed !
