As it appears there isn't an intercooler fitted to the 2.4s, has anyone ever fitted one? Is it worthwhile?

I have a couple of different ICs kicking about along with some hose, so seems silly to to make use of them:devil:

are you sure there isnt one fitted ? . there should be ! follow the pipe from compressor to intake. its pretty much pointless without it. the only TD engines without intercooler i've seen are older volkswagen 1.6 diesels. if its not there, by all means fit one..

I double checked yesterday, pipe from air filter to turbo, then from turbo it goes back towards airbox, then up over gearbox and to inlet plenum. I'm hoping there's enough room for hoses to pass each side of rad and front panel, but I need to get a proper look see.

The Rover 200 diesels didn't have an IC as std in Di trim, it was only the SDi that got them.

It is there. Look through the air intake in the bumper, it should be behind the left hand fog lamp - always been ther on mine!!

Yeah is a bit small! There was a rag hiding it from view:rolleyes:

Still may look to see if the Nissan Pulsar cooler I have in the shed will fit:devil:

Does anyone know what boost these run and what controls it? Had some very good results on my old 75 CDT by upping the boost and playing with it, one guy with a MG ZT has got his almost up to 2.0 petrol turbo bhp and has totally eclipsed the torque figure, and still gets diesel economy! :D

Hopefully I should have a box of electronic trickery here soon to see what can be done with mine.

probably 1 bar at full juice. boost is purely actuator controlled, no boost control by ECU. fuelling is controlled by the ECU (via fuel quantity adjuster on pump), so it would need to be remapped. and I've never seen it done on that engine. if you could get the bosch ECU number (0281 --- ---) one could find out. You cant just increase boost without more fuel..

Yes I know, and this is what this box of tricks does ;)

So a BCV in the actuator line should then allow adjustable boost too, knew I should of kept hold of my boost gauge too:rolleyes:

make sure you turn the fuel up too as a mate messed with his 306 HDI and only turned the boost up and it lost power on the rollers, alternatively you could buy a 20v NA and tune it like mine lol sounds awesome and goes like a turbo just needs a petrol station every 30 odd miles lol ;)
