This is in the wrong section probably but it will get moved if it is wrong I spose but its more than one question really....

I found a car that I may be considering buying and I would like advice on it. For one I want to know wether its worth buying and how much you reckon it would cost to repair with parts from a scrapper or ebay etc...

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/ww...s=&ukcarsearch_full.x=18&ukcarsearch_full.y=7

Its this car. The question I was goin to ask about insurance wise was would this effect the insurance if it was once a written off car?

I just want your opinions and shizzle

Ta kids

They might want some sort of engineer's report to certify the work is done to a high enough standard, but I can't think of anything else that they may want.

so it wouldnt make a difference to the price of insurence then? or you dont think it will? Obviously the car needs a Vic test i think its called

see that what i want opinions. I have never bought a car all on my own before but i want a saxo vtr that will be my next car. I just wanted it cause it would give me something to do as kind of a hobby n all repairing it but i mite get a saxo and buy another car to play about with lol

i wouldnt get a saxo! quite a few people on psc have gone from punto to saxo, then back to punto or from saxo to punto, and they rather the puntos. and everyone seems to flip them too! so must be easily flippable cars lol

imo, get a mk2 punto :) i mean what one would you rather crash in...

the mk2 punto 1.2 16v is also as quick as the saxo vtr, and cheaper on insurance, tax, petrol (y) saxo is also poor quality inside (n)

:p

mk GF's first car was a saxo, and it had far worse damage than that little bump. it was good as new after the repairs.

once repaired, the insurance will be the same as a non-repaired car.

i estimate the repairs to be £300-400.

get the boot floor repaired, the wing filled, and the tailgate repaired (tailgate looks ok to me but its says its damaged).
(£100-150)

go to a scrapyard and get a bumper and light (and a o/s/r bodykit panel if that needs replacing) [get them in the correct colour if possible to save on paint costs]
(£30-50)

then get it sprayed. (£100-200 depending on what needs spraying)

you'll need to use small backstreet type bodyshops to get reasonable prices.

its hard to tell exactly what the damage is by the pics, but assuming the boot floor is just a bit bent and can be straightened easily enough, it wont cost you a lot. thats the gamble you take, a quick inspection will tell you what the situaiton is.

i'd probably pay £700 for it due to the low milage, but check the document wallet and all keys are present as damaged cars rarely have them.

also remember this car would have been bought at auction for about £300-400 so you will be able to haggle them down a fair bit on the asking price. failing that get to an auction and save yourself some cash, there's plenty to choose from (especially with nearly new saxos/puntos/corsas/clios/etc as loads of kids crash them)

the mk2 punto 1.2 16v is also as quick as the saxo vtr

i've told you about drinking petrol, now look at the non-sense your spouting.

a saxo VTR does 0-60 in 9.9secs and has a top speed of 116mph.
a mk2 sporting does 0-60 in 10.6secs and has a top speed of 107mph.

although i agree the punto is a better car inside and out, and better built and nicer to drive. my GF's second (and current car) is a mk2 sporting, and tbh the driving experience is a lot better than the saxo. the interior is 10 times better.
