over the last two years alone I have paid £6604 in insurance, and this years quote is still going to be £1500, this is with 2 years NCB and me now being 23, not a single claim or conviction and two years driving completely clean, kinda had enough of paying through the nose now, but it doesnt matter where I go in terms of make, model, engine CC anything, my quotes are base £1500 upwards, bit of a joke really, going to hazard a guess and take a punt at blaming the postcode, only thing I can think that would affect it, i have mates the same age with the same NCB ect, one even has the sport turbo bravo and only pays £880 yr, completely different postcode, more powerful car, and the big one TURBO......:bang:

not quite sure what to do, working all the overtime I can to attempt to get £1500 min before my insurance runs out in october (n)

Change of car might help if you could live without a fiat..

Don't just check small engine cars when you get your quotes most 2.5 4X4 Diesels are cheaper to insure for me then my 1.2 Panda. Witch is okay if you dont do many miles..
Or try finding a classic, i know a Austin 1100 would be £1000 cheaper a year for me!

Or as suggested try moving i guess..

Goodluck!

Move! and make sure everything is accurate i.e. if you do 6,000 miles a year then don't leave the policy at the default 12k they always assume.

i love liverpool but there are some pretty rough areas i wouldn't dream of leaving my car, if you live in one of them then its not surprising the costs are so high?

getting rid of the car is a no go really, drive 50 miles to work everyday, to be honest I wouldnt really class my area as rough, there are worse places, however I can tell its getting worse, it cost my mum £750 to insure a ford puma, thats with 10yrs NCB and 15yrs clean driving, things may be looking up in the job front, so if all goes well you may see my fiat with a set of irish plates on :D

Roughness has nothing to do with it, it's the number of claims ;)

Liverpool has the highest claim rate for whiplash in the uk so imassuming that plus all the car theft and vandalism claims make it rank rather high on the postcode rankings

ive moved about 5 mins from where i used to stay just inside a new postcode and im now 100 pounds cheaper with 1 years ncb and 2 years driving

Oh come on Liverpool is England's answer to Scotland's Glasgow. No surprises about being a high insurance area. You can ***** foot about & say this that another but the insurance companies have their facts one way or another.

I'm not being hard here either, I'm just being obvious.

Was actually a mate that works in insurance claims that said to me he also said an area close to me ml12 is a high risk area as its rural there are loads of breakins and the thiefs just steal the car keys also not a lot of cops in the countryside so car crime is generally high

I believe all insurance is a scam, no one should be paying anything like £1500 or above. The goverment should get involved and stamp down on this...

My suggestion would to limit the engine size for young drivers 17 to 21 but in turn lower the cost of insurance to well under £600 for young drivers.

But on the other hand, I was 18 once and all I dreamed off was having hot hatch motors such as the Xr2's, Xr3's, GTi's etc. But back then it was affordable to drive around in one of these cars.

Just like everyone else who hasn't a clue about how insurance works. Insurance isn't a scam, and limiting a premium just wouldn't work.

To me and many others, charging a young driver 5k to drive a car is a scam. I have lived on a council estates on and off, some bad and some good. One thing that get me, is that im painted with the same brush as some low life who lives on the same street. So I have never claimed and my insurance goes up and up every year due to my post code.

Now I have moved to a so called posh area and my insurance has dropped by over £100, I ask why ? nothing has changed, I have only moved a few streets away. Companies should not be allowed to decimalisation due to area or wealth but they do this all the time.

I'm 22 passed my test 3 months ago, bought a seicento s 1.1 insurence with adrian flux £1750 but pay monthly so abit more, had a quote for a sei sporting and was quoted £2700!!! ?? Same engine rite!? Hope it drops after a years no claims bonus.. Think it'll be much?

Why not?

I live very close to Lowedges - car crime hell hole.

Why shouldn't I be charged more for my car being more likely to be nicked?

I remember a guy wanting insurance for a brand new Harley Davidson motorbike, kept on the street in Glasgow - no company wanted to quote, with good reason!!
