Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had any idea on the cheapest insurance company to insure a 1.2 8v punto? I'm 17 and learning to drive now and looking to have passed my test before the middle of July.

Any responses or feedback welcome :)

Cheers, Josh

Ha your having a laugh!

you've got these factors against your

Your hormone filled body
The Dangly bit between you
The fact your L plates makes it cheaper - but come to P plates or skipping that stage means you are often charged more

So make sure the insurance company dont rip you off even more to change over

Hmmmm thanks for the reply mate, what would you consider a reasonable price for first year insurance.

Cheers, Josh

Are you going to insure it once you've passed or while you're learning still?
Once you've passed, you can expect to pay around 150-200 quid a month.
If you want to insure it before you pass, add a few zeros onto the end of the amount above and an arm and a leg.

hearing alot of young drivers suffering with the black box of death to slash insurance prices

Also Consider adding mum or dad to the Policy as a NAMED DRIVER

DO NOT - PUT YOURSELF AS A NAMED DRIVER WHILE BEEN THE MAIN DRIVER!
this is fraud - you crash - insurance ask why you driving, they may refuse to pay out

get quotes quotes quotes

And when i was 18 and on L plates, i paid 1.6k

I'll only buy and insure the car after I have past my test, I know that it is only insurance group 4 however been quoted stupid prices like 7k :p

Yeah family members have already warned me about that! Thanks for the advice mate

Get added to parents insurance until you pass - imo - how can you be a main driver when you haven't passed your test...

because there are way way way too many young lads thinking there mr. vettel and writing cars off

Yeah I suppose I can understand that however from what my instructor has told me, I'm quite a good driver compared to a lot of other people and wouldn't want to be put in the bracket as a so called "boy racer".

It's a shame that because of a few idiots everyone else has to suffer, and don't even get me started on how terrible some female drivers are and I'm not even a sexist person at all even though that sentence might look like that.

Simples - you drive with your parent at side of you

I drove as a learner to work - then my parents drove my car home
They drove car to me to pick me up - i drove home

Go out shopping - i Drive there - i drive back?

See where this is going?

Cheap insurance at 17 is a bit paradoxical

The suggestion of parents insurance while you're learning is not a bad idea however if it is your car in your own name it might be deemed 'fronting' so only useful if you're parents are actually driving the car.

The best thing you can do is click round some websites and see what quotes you can get, work out a realistic mileage to get your quotes accurate and as a 17 year old mods are likely to cripple your insurance costs. Also try quotes with and without family members to see what effect it has on the quotes but in the grand scheme of things its still likely to cost a fortune, do you have two healthy kidney's ?

Cheers mate ill give it a go, considering I don't drink or smoke I would say my kidneys would be in good order haha

I passed last June at the old age of 27 and paid 1.4k for my insurance on my 1.2 punto.... Done afew quotes for next year and it's down too £800 with pass plus and 1 year ncb

That's with 1st central insurance who was cheapest I could find

Like me at the moment
Im 23 - 5 Years NCD - no points - no convictions etc etc

I'd have to pay about £700 ish
Add my mum to my policy - its then 660

When she does drive my car under 3rd party and why should they have my £40? i want it thanks :)
