My punto is now off the road , i cannot justify how the f**king hell a insurance company can justify going from 2400 annual , 230 monthly.............

to 770 monthy and 7734 annual.........

cannot get over it.. i'm on my father's policy as a named driver (n)

Was that a renewal price? If so don't let it worry you, insurance companies try it on because they expect people to forget and automatically renew.

Get yourself on confused.com and start looking for a new policy. Also try getting your own policy with your dad as a named driver, (insert lecture about illegal fronting here)

I'm 19 , i did have a 1.4 sporting on my dads name as my 1st car, it was 1400 ...

this Mjet is now 2400 .. and im happily paying 230 a month.

recently changed over .. what has happened he got 9 years no claims with elephant.com and i am insured by RAC.

and apprently 3 weeks later without any notice ...... now they come to tell us that his no claims cant be on his car on elephant and on my punto...

ALTHOUGH nothing was ever said about it ... and this is how it was exactly on my old 1.4 on aviva which are owned by RAC.

absolutely furious :bang:

Get a sex change, problem solved :)

They say it's all changed now and both male and female will pay same prices but it really hasn't :)

Not yet, it's supposedly going to change but hasn't been implemented yet.

Rules are you can't use a No Claims Bonus on more than 1 policy. Another reason you shouldn't have your dad as the main driver. Go and get a quote with yourself as the main driver and your dad as a named driver, that was they won't ask about his NCB as he's just a named driver.

But he done it before?, on ariva.... and also they wont let us bring it across to my punto either

Something has gotta be wrong there. Nobody I, going to say seven grand insurance on a GP.

My highest quote on my punto was £99,999.99. No joke, insurance companies just think they're funny. Of course I found a cheaper quote but still, they like to take the p*** a lot of the time.

Well lucky you didn't have to make a claim during that period, because if you did, and aviva found out he was using his NCB on 2 policies, then you would have been in big trouble. It's silly, but it's the law. Now read my previous posts and get a proper quote :)

My car did get wrote off lol.

Some idiot went into the back of me.. anyway yeah i'm gonna do that.

I'm sorry but i have no sympathy, your basically fronting....i have paid 6000 in the past two years alone on insurance due to my age, car is in my own name (the legal way) as is the insurance policy, I'm 23 now have one years NCB and I'm getting quotes for 1500, may sound cheap, but i am still paying the bank for my first years insurance, but that was the only way for me to get a car, every car i attempted to insure at the time was around 3.7 - 4k to insure no matter what make/model/spec and regardless of fully comp/tpft

Lucky they didn't find out! If your dad's NCB was on that policy and your car got written off how come he didn't lose his NCB then? Was it protected?

Yeah they were protected ... I didnt claim as such ...
The guy owned up and his insurance just paid it out stright away.

More fool you thats all i have to say.

Who in they're right mind would pay 6000 for car insurance. Seriously?

How can you justify paying £6000 what was your car actually worth? If it was a Audi R8 maybe i can see where insurance is coming from .. but i highly doubt that.

its either pay it or have no car, first years insurance was 3700, second year was 2004, getting new quotes for this october of 1500, car was worth 8500 when I got it, its now worth about 4k, but those prices where the same for a 1.1 punto 55, so i thought sod it i will have a car thats worth the insurance

I'd pay anything that works out roughly up to 300 a month.
Anything more can do one.

It's a joke.

Well since insurance companies have got fully wise to insurance Fronting.. and you risk having your insurance cancelled/ voided and thus making gaining any future insurance for both you and your father nearly impossible.................

It certainly hasn't changed (girls to match boys). I have just insured my 17 year old daughter with a provisional licence, fully comp on a 2007 GP sporting 16v with Admiral for £740. This uses a multicar discount but even without it was only £1200. Worth looking into the multicar route!!

its due to change

provisonal insurance is generally cheaper then when you have a full licence do a comparison check on a full licence and see how much it goes up by
