Fiat Punto 2011 Diesel. Sometimes the mobilizer reads the key flawlessly and sometimes it completely fails to acknowlege the key where the padlock symbol on the dashboard stays static (not blinking) as suggested by a local lock smith I have changed the immobilizer round antenna that fits on the ignintion switch but the problem still prevails and after that I went ahead and got my self a new key programmed thinking that the old key might be an issue but still the problem persists, can someone please help.

If using switch cleaner on all the electrical connections doesn't help, then you could try unhitching the antennae ring and tape a good key to it leaving wiring still connected and tuck it behind the dash so permanently "de immobilised", you wouldn't need a chipped key in ignition, just a key that fits the lock. Your liability though as less secure from theft!
If it still is unreliable then wiring or BCM Body Computer possible issue.:(
I bought a Iveco Daily 3.5 tonne pick up like that from a utility Company as they were fed up with their drivers breaking expensive chipped keys.
