My mum has got a 1.2 16v punto t reg..her insurance company said that to insure me on this car would cost over £1000 a year?!

im confusedd lol help!

Cheers :)

Not to be rude, but I'm going to guess your around 18? Alot of it can also depend on the insurance company, Fortis wanted an extra £1800 per year to put my brother (just turned 18) on my mums Rover 200 when he was 17; now he's 18 they only want £400 :nutter:

The 16V versions are a higher insurance group than the 8v's too I think though I arent sure which is the 1.2 litre version on parkers (smallest I can see is the 85bhp 16v)

So could you recommend any insurance company for the cheapest. These websites are pants! lol..cheers. (sorry if im being akward, just haven't got a clue!)

Well I used a comparison site and am with Endsleigh (costs me £820 for 2 addresses, fully comp, storage on road cover, courtesy car, legal cover the lot and a max excess of £400); though being a student I get a discount with them. The best I can recommend is to go and look up on something like confused.com etc and see what they can come back with; others may have other suggestions!

Make sure to include any modifications; you don't want invalid insurance :)

Probably not, but remember to account for Road Tax (and servicing/repairs/MOT) in a budget. For £1000 I think it'd be pretty close to be honest

Quickly:
£1000 in my case would give 1000-820 (insurance) -120 (road tax) = £60 on a car; which isnt going to happen

realistically it took me £1600 ignoring the repair's I've done myself! Not gotten to the MOT yet but it's literally round the corner.

vs £1000 on your parents car is cheaper and the repair bills & tax arent 100% your expendature
