Got my Stilo about a month ago. Its an 02 Plate Active. Great car although I had a problem, that when i pressed the accelerator the revv counter in the instrument panel would rattle as the revvs came back to idle.

I took the car back to the fiat garage and they said they need to replace the instrument panel. This resolved the rattling problem but when the new panel was replaced my cars mileage was reset to zero. I was told the miles that were previosly on the car would come back automatically after a few hundred miles. After driving 700 miles it still hasnt came back. Went back to the garage where the reconfigured it and it still hasnt came back?!?

Should they not have to manually put the miles back on? anyone any ideas?

Sorry for the long story lol
Cheers

What the  ... I'm guessing the guys don't know how to set the mileage to what it should be... I also think it has to be a manual process.

Doesn't the process have to be done via Examiner - sure there was a recent thread on this, either NumanR or a tech guy mentioned the process :chin:

I must admit Stu... you have a bloody good memory... that was a couple of months ago:

When you change the instrument display, techs are asked to connect examiner to the car with the old unit connected and then record certain information regarding the display. The tech then connects the new display and inputs the information obtained previously. HOWEVER I have had the situation where the service counter has not accepted the new details although I have never had problems with anything else. Personally I would say that its much more likely that the software for the dash has changed. When examiner is connected an id number is displayed which corresponds to the part number. So all that is required is to order that part number or a superceeded number. Software changes are common, and dont forget new vehicles do not asr so that would be why later spec cars didnt have this message.

cheers guys i think ill take it back up and get them to put the miles on again. im just annoyed third time having to go back up. They just kept saying it has been reconfigured and the previous 37K would come back on after a few hundred miles. I just dont see how it can happen?!?

To top it all off i think they gave me the 5 door display rather than the one for the 3 door! dont understand this?!? just my luck! lol
