Hi folks ..

night before last my clocks stopped working. All of them, including the digital trip meter.

I read some of the posts on here and found a few that had encountered the same problem. So first of all I checked all the connections by taking the panel out of the dashboard to ensure the plugs had not come lose or fallen out of the back. None had.

I 'wiggled' the wires about to no avail, although when I pushed one plug (the center one) they came on for a split second then went off again. I pushed on that plug again but the movement in the clocks was never repeated.

They did play up a few months ago .. for a few weeks on and off, but then it seemed to clear itself - until the other night! Now there is absolutely nothing .. no movement at all cept the petrol light is constantly on. All the warning lights work ok and the car starts first time.

Is it likely to be a faulty PCB?

Regards

Hi Johnson,

Well, not knowing which fuse it was I had all the fuses out and looked at them, They looked OK!

But if you say it is the same one as the brake lights I can go and check that now, because presumably if it is that one the brake lights wont work, .. right?

or did you mean that it is a 10 amp fuse like the brake lights fuse ?

lol .. as my brake lights are working I think i misread your post maybe.

Regards

I don't like fuse questions, they are all over the Marea and the factory kept swapping them around. However in this case I don't think it is a fuse more likely a connector wiring or PCB fault. As a first try I would unplug and then refitthe problem connector, spraying it with switch cleaner or even WD40 will not hurt while it is out. If that does not work then maybe the connector on the board needs to be resoldered.

well ...

Now im befuddled.

Lastnight after working on it for most of the day I left the car with the dash out and gave up until this afternoon.

I went out to it and put the key in the ignition, turned it once until all the usual lights came on and noticed the petrol gauge go up. So I moved a rag that was covering the other dials and hey presto .. they were working!!!

When I left it lastnight they were definately not working.. and everything that I had tried failed to make them work, thats why I gave up until the morning.

So what are we looking at here ...

It can't be a faulty fuse, pcb or connector, unless the pcb has an intermittent fault? Could it be that damp is getting in somewhere and me leaving the panel out (but still connected to power) over night has allowed it to dry out?

Anyway .. thanks guys for trying to help I will see how long it stays working!!

Regards

Ooppps ..

Nope, they have stopped working again ... (n) :bang:

I had same prob with mine, it turned out to be a loose connecter near the right side of the dash, if you bang on top of the dash console do they work intermittently ? if so I guess you got a dodgy connecter.
Try taking dash out again and just give the connector blocks a good clean and push them firmly back in place, make sure they lock into postition.
Hope this helps..

the reason I said it was the same fuse as the brake lights is I had a fault on my caravan lights when I pressed the brake pedal the fuse would blow and I had nothing working on my dash but thats been sorted caravan has its own fuse now
