Hello, I am new here so bare with me.
I have searched the forums but can't find what I’m looking for, so here goes.

I just purchased an instrument cluster/dash/speedo and it has slightly higher mileage than the car its going in by about 400 miles? I'm not too bothered about this, but I’m just wondering if i will encounter any problems with installation or problems at a later date (MOT).

Also, I’m wondering about prices of Proxy Alignment. I've read that the Fiat dealership will demand £60+, but I’m not willing to spend that much. Is there any where else that can do it, or can i get it cheaper?

Many thanks in advance and sorry for any silly questions.:)

Hi mate :)

As far as I know you will be fine with those clocks. I did exactly the same last year and fitted a set with a slightly higher mileage than the original set.
I believe you would run into problems trying to fit a set with a lower mileage. But mine worked straight away with no probs at all.

Good luck and let us know how you get on if you can (y)

why would you have a prob if its set of clocks with a lower mileage as long as you keep some sort of record for the mot and selling surely you should be ok cause if you have i high miler how do you go about getting a set of clock that high again

So if i install these clocks, will i need to get a proxy alignment? I hope not, might save me a bit of dosh ;)
But yeah i'll give it a shot when they arrive in any case.
Many thanks mate

Right i've done a dash change from a basic to an active one

When u change clock, you need to have a clock set thats lower - as you cant have a higher millage one put backwards, you have to have a lower put up

Also I asked my fiat todo it - it was £120 todo it

I rang a local buisness (auto Electrician) they did it for £60 :)

I think u could possibly get away with doing it on the exact miles - so it wont flash all the time but i cant guarentee that

Ziggy

So if i do install it, it won't even work? Even if i do get it Proxy Aligned?
If i do install it, i'm not going to want to get it lowered because i'm not too bothered about 400 miles.
Just hoping i won't actually need a proxy alignment

I'd just go off this answer lol.

you will ALWAYS need a proxy alignment when swapping mk2 clusters, this is whether it flashes or not..

the cluster will work even if it's flashing but will have the wrong can bus node address for the car, some functions using can bus will not work until it has a proxy alignment done.

it's not just swapping clusters, if you remove the battery long enough the stock cluster will also flash and require a proxy alignment..
