Have now had all 4 injectors on my 1.6sx replaced. Car is driving better than it ever has. Thing is the warning light is behaving strangely. It goes off before I start the engine, then comes back on. No hint of a misfire. Prior to the repair, the light would go out when I came off the gas for a while, obviously because no petrol being used. Now it stays on all the time?
I had some very useful info on here about replacing injectors which led me to understand that the injector light could not be reset? But the engine is seemingly faultless now. Life was so boring before I bought a Fiat

Way I see it you have two choices; if the car is running fine ignore it. If not, or if you really need to get to the bottom of it, get Fiat to carry out a diagnostic check.

Going for another check on Monday. Meanwhile I'm risking a 100 mile trip this weekend, mobile at the ready. I can only think its a wiring problem maybe. By the way, ignoring red lights on the dash is very difficult for a middle aged man who has all his brave days behind him.

Hmm, I'm not in my first flush of youth (we're not all boy racers you know) all it takes is a bit of courage!.........

Well, did the trip and apart from a whining from the engine, which I think is one of the belts, the car is going like a rocket. Its as awkward as my 3 year old grandson.

the warning light appears for two reason possibly.

1 - your lambda (co2) sensor has gone south on you

or

2 - your TDC sensor is malfunctioning.

there is no possible fault code when your lambda is faulty. the only sign is increased fuel consumption (at least by 30%). sometimes engine lack of power.

if it's your tdc sensor, the worst could be that you can crank but the engine wont start. lots of people think that it's becoz of insufficient fuel feed or failed fuel pump.

check these two out first. if you have a high mileage car, then i reckon it's time to change the lambda.

i've had similar problems in the past, when replacing an injector for someone i found that the light remained illuminated even though the car was running perfect. it turned out to be a damaged HT lead and sparkplug caused by running the car with the injector fault for so long.

with a new set of leads and plugs it was running even better and the light went out stright away.

It may be advisable, being as you now have four brand new injectors, to reset the ecu. Remember the previous injectors were giving you grief but the engine is set up to run on them, the ecu may just be confused.

i'd assume the ecu has been reset during injector replacement. as a rule of thumb you should disconnect the battery when carrying out any work such as injector replacement, which resets the ecu while you work.

Ah....But as my father says Jug, "never assume anything". It's stood me in good stead over the years lol.
(Apart from that, i changed the headunit in mine the other day and utterly forgot to disconnect the battery....fortunately no damage done lol)

Battery was disconnected as my radio clock was out 3 hours. I will suggest new ht and plugs to my long suffering local guy. As the car is running perfick, I'm hoping to get past xmas without more bother. Cheers all

But did you let the car idle without revving at all for 5 minutes. I believe the reset won't work properly unless this happens. Am i right Jug?

well it depends who you ask, when i do an ecu reset i tend to let it idle from a cold start until it is fully warmed up (about 3-5mins) to allow the idle parameters to be fully learnt, and then i take it for a fairly gentle drive to learn accurate fueling under normal load conditions. i dont drive it hard during the intitial learning stages.

although in reality the ecu is constantly learning and adjusting its operating parameters so in the long run it doesnt really matter how you do it.

hello people!!
i had same problem with injection light!
the light wouldn't go off but motor was running fine!
i changed the air temperature sensor and the problem was solved!
you can try to change it because its not exspencive and the car will use less petrol !(y)

Hello my neighbour! Long time no write! :p I have this problem and you say that air temperature sensor is the problem?
