As part of installing the rebuilt head, i need to replace these seal gaskets. These parts don't seem to be available anywhere - does anyone know if seal gaskets from a different engine are compatible?

Not quite sure which seals you need.
If it is the copper sealing washers x 4 to go under the fuel injectors in the cylinder head, then try somewhere like Darwen Diesels as they are quite helpful. Or most diesel servicing specialists.
Apart from them if you know the make of injector and it's serial number then probably pattern copper washers to suit will be available on eBay.
The reason I suggest Darwen Diesels is the quality will be better as cheap eBay copper washers tend to be harder and don't seal so well.

Copper work hardens. It can be annealed to soften it again by heating until red hot in a gas flame, and then quenching in cold water. I have used this technique successfully on both injector, and sump plug washers.

I have one of the four taken off (i think the others were damaged) - see photo below

It seems to be steel, and once turned over, goes under the injector.

I can try Darwen Diesels to see what they suggest.

Have you got an actual photo of one seal and the actual injector.
I have seen a sort of wavy washer at the bottom of the hole the injector sits in on some , but there is still a copper washer, unless it is the type of injector with a tapered fit.

sorry, wrong picture - that was picture of my porsche 928 broken down yesterday!

try the first of these (ignore the skirting board ones)

Yes that is the one I called a wavy washer, Darwen or similar should be able to supply.
I thought there was another sealing method also.
I used to know the wavy washer as a "heat shield washer". They were supposed to be assembled with the corrugations pointing upwards If dropped into injector recess they used to tumble, so slid them down a metal rod. In the specific application there was also as mentioned, a copper sealing washer.

My memory is a bit rusty at times, but I agree, they compressed to make the heat shield so needed to be replaced once disturbed and then the main pressure seal, copper washer or on some injectors a taper like this VW one and a slightly different shape wavy washer/heat shield washer.:)
