Technical Injector light

Hi,

Would a broken idel control valve cause the injector light to stay on and flash when starting ?

Does the ECU light stay on? Any other symptoms? Why do you suspect a broken idle control valve?

yes the ecu stays on. i have taken the cat of and shortened the exhaust and i suspect the idle control valve from reading other threads.

Is it MPI or SPI?

Does it idle OK?

What else have you done apart from bugger about with the CAT and exhaust?

I think this is a cento engine in a kit buggy.

Ah, interesting!

Like Rallycinq says, maybe yes, maybe no.

The only thing that's pretty certain is that it's not a lambda fault. A scattergun approach isn't likely to get you anywhere fast, and, if you don't have access to a supply of sensors, it'll cost a packet.

Rallycinq has posted a list of the nominal values of the SPI sensors on ClubCento (in the member's section) -- you just need a bit of time and a tester to run through them.

Alternatively. if you can get the buggy to a local FIAT dealer you might find that someone there likes it enough to run a diagnostic on it for nowt.

But don't hide your light under a bushel, some details, please, and pics!

Hi, yes it idles fine and runs great, the vacum pipe to the brake servo is 2 meters longer than in the standard car.

Love it! And MOs, too!

You could try cleaning the TB with carb cleaner and just re-setting the ECU. The other possibility is the MAP sensor, but can't see the length of the vacuum hose being an issue. I think I've read that the MAP will still read OK at 10 metres plus from the manifold!
