General Injector light & rev counter

My Mareav1.9 TD 100 hastarted to missbehave again.
Out for a drive on the motor way today I noticed the Injector light intermittantly came on and the rev counter would drop to zero intermittantly also.
Accelerating away from a stop seemed ok but as soon as the car reached a fixed speed and the reves became constant the rev counter dropped to zero again.
When I got it home the engine seemed to idle slightly unevenly
I suspect this is a timing belt/tensioner issue but I got these done only 10K miles ago.
Can any one confirm this or make a suggestion.
Any help appreciated as long drive from Dublin to Cornwall os looming.

Sounds a bit like there could be a general poor earth? Check battery contacts?

might be worth a diagnostic, fault code(s) should be stored if the injection system fault light has been coming on.

Almost certainly electrical, rev counter dropping is a sign. Probable causes poor earth, poor plug connection, relay or relay socket etc.

Thanks folks, but the injectors had failed, just had them rebuilt in the diesel shop and she flys along.

how the hell do you rebuild an injector? they're sealed units.
