Can anyone point me in the right direction.????

I drove home tonight and the red injector light came on the dashboard while i was driving??...it stayed on for a while-then went off and then back on again intermitently. My car HAS felt a bit sluggish the past few weeks and feels a bit 'throaty' and lacking power.

ANYONE else had this problem??..is it expensive to fix???

ANY help would be MUCH help.

re injector light on dash

sorry

Its a BRAVA 1997 P reg.....done 74,000 just had cam belt done.

Was wondering whether theres any chance this could be a small problem or is DEFFINATELY gonna be expensive??!!

Re: re inector light

If it does it again lift your foot off the gas pedal and see if the light goes out.

Re: re inector light

good luck taking it to fiat (which is what you'll have to do)...for me it took them 7-8 weeks and three diagnostics to find a loose connection in an ECU wiring loom.

RE INJECTOR LIGHT

Yes...light does seem to go out for a moment when i take foot off gas. But seems to come on again and then off for a while - doesnt seem consistant

Re: RE INJECTOR LIGHT

Off to fiat you go, sounds like a dead injector.

Its a DIYable job if you are handy with the spanners.

Re: RE INJECTOR LIGHT

mines been doing that for the past 12 months though and its not made the slightest bit of difference to it yet ...just thought it was damp or something in the contacts ??????

Re: RE INJECTOR LIGHT

Re: RE INJECTOR LIGHT

are you on commission from haynes publishing?
LOL ;)

I have this exact problem on my 1998 1.6 SX Brava. Local garage said it is more likely to be a bad HT lead.

If it is an injector, is there an easy way to id the faulty one?
The light comes and goes frequenty with a resulting loss of power.

Help appreciated.

Cheers
Tim

The ECU would not be able to tell if it was an HT lead and hence would not light the light.

The easy way to check which injector it is would be to take all the plugs out and see which one is a different colour.

Hi Tom - checked & cleaned the plugs recently, no obvious difference.
