Injector Fault Light, Iratic running

My 1997 Brava 1.6 16V has a injector light lit and runs lumpy with the alternator connected. When the alternator is diconnected and ran only from the battery the injector light goes out and the engine runs smooth. I have had a diagnostic test with no problems found and alternator tested. Has anyone any sugestions

thats gota be down to the alternator then.its taking power from the battery but then struggling to keep the car moving fine and also the inj light is on..You say when u disconnect the alternator,its all fine when running straight from the battery..

Alternator regulator or diodes are fried - did you measure the voltage on the batt poles when the alternator is connected ?
+ measure the voltage of the battery when the engine aint running.
