I'm think of buying a Pipercross Induction kit but am unsure as to whether to get the standard one or the viper one. Does the standard one involve alot of work in fitting and which one is better? Also where does the induction kit fit onto the original pipe into the engine?

If you can afford it...the viper is the one to get...

Re: Re: Induction Kit for HGT

The pipercross is awesome! Very very good choice!
The viper is definately better, though quite a bit more expensive, just depends on your wallet!

Viper fits the same way as this, except this is a BMC filter.

Re: Re: Re: Induction Kit for HGT

how much we talkin and where is the cheapest place to get one ?(anywhere online im a lazy ba****d).

Re: Re: Re: Induction Kit for HGT

Sorry for got to say....the Pipercross filters come with great instructions and pictures.
Fitting is reasonably easy, though you need to jack the car up and remove the passenger side front wheel and arch liner to remove the standard airbox.
When ordering there are two options, the first comes with a plastic style standard looking hose. The other option is the one with the Samco hose. Don't quote me on the codes but i think 'VF' stands for standard hose and 'VFC' is the one that comes with the Samco stuff.
Their both the same price and it applies to both the vector induction kit and the viper.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Induction Kit for HGT

www.needforspeed.co.uk are the cheapest i've seen for vipers, £212.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Induction Kit for HGT

cheers mate will gone have look....expensive for induction kits but if u want the best i suppose u got pay the price.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Induction Kit for HGT

Even though most companies claim +4-5bhp, with most you dont get any...

The Viper is apparently the exception (maybe the BMC as well)...dont know what the gains are though...

Where is the best place to buy the pipercross BMC induction kit and how much roughly? Will there be an option for the samco hose? Also if you dont get the samco hose what is the standard option? Is it a metalic metal pipe?

Finally...sorry for all the questions...but will i lose the whistling sound you get when you take the engine past 5000 RPM by putting the induction kit on?

Pipercross and BMC are different companies. I'd go for the pipercross as I was not impressed with the quality of the BMC.

Pipercross give the option of silicone or rubber hose.

The whistling will get worse :)

Re: Re: Induction Kit for HGT

For the Pipercross Viper go to www.needforspeed.co.uk and it's £212.
For the BMC CDA there are various places, i paid £150. for mine from a company called Evolution in Essex :)

induction kit - try Ramair Maxflow

Have you thought about the Ramair Maxflow kit, virtually same as the pipercross viper if not better but half the price. think they are roughly £125

Re: induction kit - try Ramair Maxflow

Raimair stuff rarely fits, I bought a kit for a 1.6 and there was not a hope in hell of it fitting. Their excuse was 'it fitted a 1.8 and we thought they were all the same'.

the same kit supposedly fitted an HGT too :)

wish i had read this first i have just bought a BMC Kit after reading the review on passionmotorsport website - they claim that this kit gives extra 10bhp on a saxo and 18bhp extra on an alfa romeo. anyway i am puttin it on the rolling road after it is fitted so will let you know what the exact gain is

Re: Re: Induction Kit for HGT

Have you had the car rolling roaded already? No point just doing it after as you can't make a comparative measurement. No cars are ever the power they say.

yes i have - i know the exact bhp of my car so i will know if it gains anything
