Looking to add a K&N induction kit to the t-jet engine in my bravo firstly let me add that:
•yes there are better makes than K&N
•yes I know they don't really add power
•yes I will notify insurers

I only want it for the noise and the throttle response. I'm a big kid at heart. Who doesn't love to play around ay? Oh and I'd like to make sure I can afford food for my family so don't want to pay stupid money.

Anyway my problem is that K&N don't make an induction kit for the t-jet bravos. However my knowledge of these t-jets is that basically they are all the same, so can someone just confirm that this induction kit for a Grande Punto t-jet will fit my Bravo?

K&N model number is 57-0679. If it does work does anyone know the cheapest place for it?

So come on Fiat a Forum, Help me be a child. Before I get old and grumpy (y)

you can get a replacement K&N filter that fits inside the original housing.. that would be the one i'd go for.. it's about 60 euros.

Your filter is in a completely different place than the grande punto... So im going to say no.
But someone else may know different.
The air box sits deep in from of the arch yes. But the actual engine and fitments should be the same and when I pull all the air box out it should sit in the space easy enough. Is there no one here that's done it?

I wouldn't go with a new air box filter. He won't get the same sucking and pfffffht sound. And airboxes are very restrictive so he won't get the throttle response he desires.

Matthew I suggest you search around for other threads cause it's rather simple to do. You'll just need yo buy straight PVC piping, get the bends (not sure which angle) and some clamps for it all. Some of the threads will tell you the width of the pipe needed and then you can match the size of the filter to that.

Not sure about the grande punto one fitting cause thy have a different turbo from the Bravo so the inlet diameter might be different. Just wait for the pros to come answer this question for you (y)

See I presumed it would be exactly the same as they have a T-jet 120 sporting model. Which is what mine is. I've looked at pictures of the t-jet Punto engine bay and the t-jet bravo bay and they're identical as far as the engine is concerned. And as they both have the same power surely the K&N kit is perfectly fine, (in fact it's the same one for the mito t-jet engines as well. The only t-jet engine that is different is the Abarth 500 one purely because the engine bay is tiny,

I'd rather just buy a ready made induction kit for simpleness.

The bravos use the same turbo as the grande punto, even the 150bhp bravo has the same turbo. Well, its the same housing with larger compressor wheels.
Inlet size is the same.
Im running the bravo 150 turbo on my grande punto.

It may fit if the engine mounts are exactly the same (the one attached to the camshaft cover), you'd need the grande punto t-jet induction pipe though.

Oops forgot Matthew had the Bravo 120hp, which then means it will have the exact same turbo as the Grande Punto.

Although that's quite interesting to hear Sweex, never new their housing was the same, but that makes it rather easy for anyone to upgrade their turbo to the 150hp version by just changing the size of the compressor wheels :D
But although it's not quite the EXACT same turbo in all technicality, but I understand what you mean :) (y)

Yeah, i know they arent exactly the same but they are a straight swap.
You can swap out the vl37 for the 36/38.
Im running the 36, i think the bravo runs the 38? I cant entirely remember.
However, the inlet size is the same.

As I said, the grande punto k&n will fit if the engine mount is the same (im assuming it would be) but he would need the airbox to turbo pipe which is
A) very expensive from the main dealer
B) hard to come by in scrap yards!
The mito 155tb uses the same pipe which makes searching a bit easier.

At the end of the day, and I mean this with the greatest respect...

Cone filters are much of a muchness. As far as I am concerned it makes very little real world difference what you get. Most universal cones do the same job.

With a bit of thought, you could design your own set-up and save some money.

One of these, hooked up to some silicone hosing with some jubilee clips would do the job just fine and if you shopped around you could do it for £50-60 :D

I know you have heard it all before, but if you look at mythbusters, they prove on a much more powerful car (Skyline turbo 2.5L) that a cone filter in certain situations actually loses a few bhp's ;)

Or, you could do what I'm doing which is waiting for my service schedule then bunging one of these in for "noise"

Hope this helps..
