Guys

Have a 2002 abrath with the standard fiat alarm system with the red flashing led unit on the drivers door.

Was wondering on these models if the indicators flash when you open and lock the car as mine dont

Ill think i give my so called local fiat dealer a call in the morning and find out how much it will be as i think this feature would round the car of quite well.

What gets me going is that they put it in the manual that the car has this feature but don't say anything about having setup at the dealer.....

God knows why i brought fiat......... :bang: think i would have had more luck with a skoda!!!!!!! (y)
 
I got mine done...cost me £40 though (y) I thought it was worth it though as it gives the look of an alarm to anyone that sees me leaving the car.

Alot of the £40 was for the key card with all of the codes on it. It would be cheaper if you already have one of these. I have seen posts from others who have been charged alot less. Just depends on your dealer I suppose. :D

I have the Fiat factory fitted alarm system and all the indicators flash on opening/closing. After reading the manual I assumed that this was part of the normal alarm function. If yours doesn't function in this manner then I would complain to the Dealer not pay them.
 
It does say in the manual that the indicators are supposed to there thing.

I did mention it to a dealer soon after i had the car and before i could get the words out of my mouth to finish the sentence he said NOPE!

Really strange i will give a couple of places a call a find out (y)

And isn't this just the problem with many Fiat dealers and Fiat in general - truly appalling customer 'service'. It's hardly a long or difficult job to hook the car up to the Examiner, go through a couple of menus and set the indicators to flash on locking/unlocking.

Yet as you've experienced, they just don't want to know. This is very, very wrong and why do we tolerate this in this country ?

In less than a week, I'm off to the USA for a week. I know from many previous trips that I'll be gutted to leave, as I'd really like to live there - a country where, in general, no-one puts up with that kind of service, nor does it tend to be that bad as they know that customers' expectations are higher.

Amazing how dealers are different!

I remember doing a firmware upgrade to the Nav+ on the Ulysse soon after I purchased it, so the tech called me in, did the upgrade and connected Examiner! Basically, had a play, and switched on things accordingly. All for free (y)

I gather the biggest problem (for the dealer) is getting the key code. You need to make sure they get the exact code for your car before you take it in (they'll ask for your chassis no.). Even better - wait until you were going to take the car in anyway and say “and while your about it...........”. ;)

The system indicator function was changed after DEALERS complained that it was causing problems to customers as it appeared that some flashed and others didnt(only alarmed cars indicators actually flashed). Dealers complained and Fiat Uk asked Italy to change it so all the indicators flashed on remote locking.
 
Went to a local dealer today

Have ordered a code card @ 32.50+vat

Asked the dealer how much it would be to plug the car in to there machine and do there thing for this to be enabled price quoted was 28.50 + vat for 1/2 labour what a rip off....... :confused:
 
I have just phoned another dealer and they are going to charge me 2.71+vat

I would like to know were MV got there 32.50 from how can prices be some different very strange
