Hi everyone!

I'm new to the site, so I'm really hoping somebody can help me.

We purchased a fiat punto '99 mk1 a few months ago, and we've had no problems up until last week.

When we use the indicator, the light goes on, but it doesn't blink at all any more, just stays on.

It started off just happening occasionally, but now its constant.

Does anybody know how I can fix this?!

PS: I haven't done anything yet to check what the problem could be, first wanted to get a few suggestions before I poke around in the car

Hello & welcome

It sounds like the flasher unit to me.

If all the indicator bulbs are lit (go round and check), then it's likely the flasher unit has broken - that would also explain it happening occasionally to start with.

Should be a simple plug in of a new one (second hand will do if you've got another mk1 handy, or a scrapyard) - I don't have a handbook nearby but they are usually a square thing like a big fuse & you just plug the prongs into the connector - once you've found it, it's a 10 second repair. (y)

Hi!

Thanks for the welcome and the responses.

Checked all the lights to make sure they were on (they were), checked the fuses and all looked ok.

Opened up the under the steering wheel and a small box was loose, which im guessing was the flasher unit. Just had to give it a nudge, and all is fixed (y)

Gonna get a spare in case it happens again, just to be safe.
