My Ducato 2017 motorhome has developed an annoying fault. Indicate left and everything works as it should, indicate right and the corner indicators and wing mirror indicators all flash at the correct speed but the "click" you hear in the cab is double speed and a warning comes up to check indicators, but they all work OK ?

I have a 2015 Chausson 718 Motorhome which has the same problems as yours. At first it was just the one side, as yours, but is now either side. Very annoying when driving, but more worrying is that I think it will fail its MOT due in June, because of the dashboard warning light being illuminated.

I have read on another forum of a similar problem, but an extra bulb had been put into the indicator circuit, which stopped the warning light coming on. I believe it had something to do with the Canbus circuit detecting some voltage drop.
I’m thinking of trying local auto electricians to see if they know of any fixes. If I come up with a solution I will let you know.

I had this and it was a dodgy bulb they all looked to be working O.K. but I decided to change them anyway.
On closer inspection I hooked up one of the bulbs directly to the battery and you could see the bulb had a very slight flicker completely unnoticeable when flashing as an indicator.

After market replacement wing mirror repeaters have the wrong lamp in, its happened to my Ducato and my neighbours Ducato after replacing broken wing mirrors. Installing the original bulb into the new wingmirror solved the problem in both cases.

They don't necessarily have the wrong lamp in, just the wrong one for your van. There are two different types of repeater lamps - one has an amber bulb shroud inside the lamp unit and takes clear bulbs. The other type uses amber coloured bulbs. On top of that, depending on the variant of the Ducato, the bulbs may be 5W or 21W (from memory).

So the vendor really needs to ask which type you need, and prompt you to check before ordering ;)

5 watt, 16 watt, 21 watt, ........

When ordinary Joe smashes his wing mirror and looks on line for a replacement, he invariably goes for the cheapest , me included. Then when it arrives and he opens the box , fits it, and it doesn't work he usually reverts to the Internet, me included.

And thank goodness for places like the Fiat Forum and all you knowledgeable contributors. I now know there are short, medium and long armed mirrors , heated and non heated, electric and non electric, temperature sensors and non sensor, dab aerial and non dab aerial and prices from £35.00 to £300 plus.

So if in any doubt take the old one off and check it over before buying a replacement and yes definitely ask the vendor, me included.......
