I recently had my insurance renewal reminder through from Swiftcover with a quote of £169. I thought I might get a few extra quid off if I shopped around a bit, so I used all the usual screen-scrapers (confused, go compare, etc).
The cheapest quote that came back was £360, and Swiftcover came back at £380

Seriously, WTF?

In future I think I'll use the screen-scrapers then call the most competetive insurers and try to haggle the price down a bit. Although for now, I think I'll take Swiftcover's £169 quote(y)

I've had a few where the comparison sites put up a nice cheap quote, then when you contact the company it suddenly shoots up so you tell them it was cheaper on comparethemoneysavingmarket.com and suddenly they match it.
Last year I got a nice cheap quote, turns out to be from a broker - WTF?
This year, the company couldn't match it so the broker found me theior best deal - £100 more than last year.
So, over 10 years NCB and the last 12 months claim free & they want more cash! They are having a giraffe.

As a new driver (license holder 20 months, car owner 9 months) I feel pretty cheated too :(

Okay, my renewal isn't up until September, but I've started looking now...and so much for that "Ohh, it'll go down once you've got a years NCB"

Err...so far, it's going UP...hopefully it'll come down...doubt it though :(
