as above, needs to be a genuinely decent runner as it will have to be used everyday, all prices and mileages considered (within reason)

and a question to any people who know better than i do, mine is a mk1 hlx and i can only use the mk1 engine cant i?

kinda urgent so let me know if you know of one or have seen one lying around....please!

AFAIK my car is a MK1 with a MK2 engine. Engine itself is the same, its the ECU and some oddments that are different (gives it the extra 2bhp for MK2).

Bravo / Brava / Marea - all three of the family share the same engine so it shouldn't be that hard to find one.

thats what i was thinkin, ta, i'll just make sure i get a block and not the lot if its from a mk2 ;)

The Barchetta also comes in a 1.8 but I'm not 100% sure if its the same block.

that one has variable valve timing mate. justin another boo member , he had a replacement engine for his 1.8 and this engine specialist said..yeah they are all the same. when our mechanic went to fit, turns out vvt. hence he had to send back and request for bravo/brava.

Sorry, my original Barchetta post meant to have read 'not 100% sure' lol.

Thanks for clarification tho Ade.

if you are replacing the whole engine then in theory you could use a VVT engine and ECU no?

in theory yes..you could buzz. but there were other engine components which were different. and it would make an already bitch job even worse :)

ta for the info guys, yea i'll just be keeping the electrics that are already in the car so a barchetta engine isnt worth the hassle (shame cos vvt would be nice!) saw that bravo on ebay, didnt want to look any deeper as the guy has very little feedback and it looks like a car that is being broken up due to engine problems, not to mention its an N reg (beggers cant be choosers tho eh lol!), i'll ask the guy but im not gettin my hopes up!
spoke to ash n he says he's gonna be keeping his 1.8 motor :(

keep your eyes peeled for me guys! ta for the help so far!

Y is it you seem to forget Ash G's bravo is Tommy K's Bravo too!!!

Lozz why would you wanna take 2 broken bravo to ur household small guarage, when 1 bravo is already at a house with a big shed, workshop etc.....

I bet i get lumbered in taken the engine out!!!

SORTED... nearly but yea, mucho gracias to all that have helped... be back in a bravo sooner rather than later :)

I could probably get hold of a 1.8 for ya but the only down side is it will be from a accident damaged car, but i would make sure its from a rear damaged or side impact? 9 times out of 10 a frontal damaged car usually has some form of engine damage usually internal so i wouldnt reccoment going for one like that

just found this business card, i remember the guy wanting about £160 for a complete marea engine already taken out. not sure much about it, 'think' about 59000miles, but dont know where you're from but this is grimsby.
