im in the process of buying a Bravo an i was wanting to fit a built in sat nav thingy! i cant seem to find any Officail Fiat 1s on the internet so i was going to fit 1 to the dash board taking out the radio cd player. sumit like a Pioneer AVIC-F900BT. i want to know really will it effect the blue & me as the system i want to install also has call making facilities i just dont want to be breaking everything so quickly

Hello!

The help is: buy a Tom-Tom and just fix it where it fixes best, and get on with it.

Make sure you remove it whenever you leave the car.

Any mucking about with the dash and electronics of a brilliant brand new car has to be, er, umm, nuts.

Ulpian - I don't agree at all with your opinion - there is good few people around that fitted double din radios with sat-nav with 6.1-7 inch screen and it looks amazing.
Fitting that kind of a device is not that hard!

Fiat Connect Nav+ built-in satnav system is not worth any money - it's very old system with only 256colour screen not even able to have a reversing camera attached or dvd-video playing facility. I was thinking of getting it when I've been ordering my Bravo so I asked for any details about it - I got the original manual for it and after studying it very carefully i've realised that it's not worth it.

People have fitted Pioneer's double din models aswel as Kenwoods DNX models, even DNX-8220BT - which in my opinion is the best. Why? First of all Garmin navigation system which i find as most reliable sat-nav system after testing out Destinator, iGo, TomTom(which doesn't have the greatest maps!). Garmin map of Western Europe 2010.10 is the best I've used and that map can be used in kenwood devices as they have a Garmin sat-nav system. You don't need to go for 8220BT model - you may go for something cheaper (7220,5220). Kenwood has also Double din dashboard adapters for different cars and adapters for steering wheel controls. Search the forum for Bravo 2 DIN for more info.

Tomtom or any other device needs to be charged - and i prefer built in satnav than cables hanging around from lighter socket.

Removing the official FIAT headunit will stop Blue&Me, the voice controls and the steering wheel controls from working.

Peerzy - but it depends, steering wheel controls will work with kenwood hu if you use adapter. Blue&Me will stop working as it is cooperating with fiat hu. Voice controls work with B&M only so if B&M won't work so won't voice controls. Depends what u need from B&M - if only music then i would prefer 7inch screen and satnav. Most of them have Bluetooth headset built in so won't loose that facility...

If you are looking to install; the Pioneer F900BT then to be honest loosing the Blue & Me wouldn't be a huge problem as the Pioneer is a much better set up than the Fiat's Blue & Me.

The Pioneer comes with Bluetooth and also allows link of of an Ipod. Right now I have my 120Gb Ipod attached to it and have all the music and video I could possible need.

I fitted the Pioneer F900Bt a while back and to be honest have never regretted it for one moment.

There's also an adapter available so you can use your steering wheel controls with the new unit.

As of yet no. Kinda a toy I don't really need though I've no doubt I'll buy one eventually

Still it's an easy install. On the back on my Pioneer it's a simple plug and play taking a power feed from your reverse light switch wire so that it automatically comes on when you select reverse.
