Cleaned the engine bay today with Autoglym engine cleaner, pretty pleased with the results. I covered all the electrics and the spark plug chambers, but my efforts were in vain for 2 of them. You know what comes next....

so for anybody interested who hasnt seen it on the facebook group, my little car has low compression on one cylinder and so it would seem the headgasket has failed. Sending it to my trusted mechanic as this one is too big for me at the moment.

Also have a set of front mudflaps, wheel trims, wheel brace and various seat belts for sale, pm if you need anything, thanks

So hows the HG gasket issue going. Its remarkable what suffering these lousy gaskets cause.

Long story short everything sorted. Turned out to be badly seated compression test

Havent updated in a while, not much been happening really, the wee car just performs beautifully all the time now extra earth strap between hedgehog and starter motor solved the earth problem.

I upgraded the headlight bulbs from the old golf ball style to new H4 P45T ones. The base is the same but the bulb itself is halogen i believe? Much brighter anyways

Also now have a 1.1 Active 2007 as well as a stablemate my wife needed a new car so we got this one, its lovely

For those that havent read the guide I posted, here is the third brake light fitted to my 750L, Personally I think it looks very cool!

its also practical and more visible. Over the next while I plan to be making some more changes to make the car a little more practical (for my purposes)

also I have since tidied it by fixing the loose bulb in place so all 10 are working, and pulled the wiring through so it isnt visible from the rear window

Received a dissassembled roof rack from P1NKY and have been in the process of restoring it. There is 1 bar which I have replicated in mild steel (as these are) But the rest are usable

Removed the cut rear brackets to extract the screws and measure them to find replacements. I found suitable dome head ones from screwfix as per the pictures. The head is slightly smaller and obviously is not flush, but since these are so prone to rusting they will be easier to remove if/when corroded as there is more to chisel into and chap round if you follow me. Will have to use a washer at one of the rear holes which was corroded badly and widened. Either that or take it to my welding class at weld the washer on or something.

Checked all threads, all are working (i.e no corrosion inside them stopping a screw being used) I will put copper grease in all of these too to prevent corrosion in the future.

I wirebrushed all the bars, and now in the process of grinding the paint and rust away. Happy with the results so far. Planning to paint with spray hammerite smooth. Thought about powdercoating, but this seems as good an idea which I can do at home.

Happy with all the plastics though 2 are missing from the one unusable bar. May well use plastidip as advised, or just leave it depending.

Also straightened 2 bars which needed it, taking my time and enjoying this project

Cam just looked at the corners on the bits I have from the H reg. they are plastic ?? Sure that they were Ali. But hey ho
