Hi everyone, just thought I would check in before I started taking info from everyone and then appearing to cut and run!
Like many of us in these difficult times I am a weekend warrior mechanic with a good lifetime served amount of knowledge spread across many disciplines and brands.
However, the reason for being here is because I have recently been given the task by a friend of mine who has asked me to look at why her Punto Evo 2010 isn't working as it should.

Wish me luck and thanks in advance for your welcome notes and if I can do anyone in the Oxfordshire area a solid then please just ask.

Regards

Cameron

Hi Cameron,

And welcome to FF 🙂

Oxfordshire has always struggled with FIAT expertise, the Cowley based dealership of the mid 90's gave way to some good indy's but they are now retired 🙄

I'm guessing the EVO issues are related to the drivetrain..?
The rest is generally pretty durable (not bad for a Vauxhall.. 😉)

I was based in Abingdon area for decades, how about you?

Hi there and many thanks for the reply.
I'm in a place called Wantage which as you lived in Abingdon, I'm sure you will know quite well!
It has undergone massive change over the last 20 years or so with even more housing being built out in Grove Airfield and then on the Hendred road up past the cricket club.
Still nothing to do though hence why I get talked into trying to repair this bloomin' Dualogic unit!
Can't find anything on the internet relating to this issue and as you say there isn't a decent solution in Oxfordshire so if I can't repair it, it becomes a paperweight!
Thanks for the welcome and any ideas are gladly welcomed!

I am very familiar with Wantage,
Had a Fiat / Lancia dealer years back, all gone now of course.

Dualogic is a fairly complex bit of kit..

A basic manual gearbox and clutch,
BUT
A "Robotic" mechanism selecting the gear and working the clutch

I had a 55 reg variant in both a Panda and Idea mpv, I think a 2020 model 500 has the same kit..

The whole robot operation is reliant on Selespeed fluid (named after the Alfa Romeo version circa1997) being pumped around the hydraulic side, and a myriad of sensor inputs

Some of this is simple, other items are hard work

Have you got kit to run system diagnostics?

Hi again.

Thanks for your reply, I think Mellors was the local Fiat dealer if memory serves, probably wrong though!
Amazing to meet someone who knows the area I live in!
Anyway, back to the Dualogic.

The system was off because I was going to send it away for £600 repair
I started to think that is all of the solenoids were working then what else could be the problem. I spoke to a guy I follow on You Tube - Ant from Auto Sportive who suggested I try the accumulator as the unit was off. I did this by changing the seal on the accumulator and refitting but there was no change, I still got 1,2,3 and r
However I was able to do a read and it came up with P0715 meaning the speed sensor. and various other things so I will check the gearbox oil and the speed sensor this weekend so would appreciate any help you might be able to offer on how to do both of these checks!

Many thanks as always

Cameron
