Since I purchased our first Stilo I was aware of this site and if a problem arose with the Stilo I searched for help and always found it.

Not to long ago I actually decided to register and contribute myself in the hope I can help others as they have helped me.

After telling friends about the site and how it really helps me fix pretty much everything I've had friends ask me to fix problems they have been living with for weeks, months and in one case years.

So, how many of you are living with a problem with your car. You know, just putting up with it in the hope it will go away, or what ever reason.

Come on guys, be honest, who is having problems with their car and has done nothing about it?

Yea I constantly ignore a rattling metal-on-metal noise coming from the engine bay on cold start-up untill it warms up (which I later learned must be the Gear Box mounting found through this forum)... Its gone now as its kind of warm, but come autumn and winter... it'll be back! :D Its like my own little season clock!

Yes, I have the every so common down on power thing. I've checked and cleaned everything, and I get the ridiculously loud 'whoosing' noise. But no mechanic I give the car too can find any cracks in the pipe work.

We have the exact same car right down to the Crystal Green colour, maybe I also have the down on power thing. I have VERY hard to open door handles, you literally have to yank them open. Possibly something easily resolvable i dont know.

Yours is petrol - mine is Diesel (y)

I can't believe that's not the intercooler ducting

Have anyone actually removed it completely to give it a good visual?

I have an oil leak from the engine and I don't know where it's coming from. Been to some mechanic once, said it was some gasket and changed it, the leak got worse. The car is working fine but it loses about half a kilo of oil every month, worst thing is it all goes on the distribution and the air con belt. So each time i start the air con I can feel it slipping until the final grip. That slip sometimes confuses the engine whether it needs to put more power to drive the AC or not, sometimes it even stalls.

I hate it, but will fix it in the near future, I think. Been having it for 3 years almost.

Except for the squeak in the clutch, which I tried fixing like mad with all kinds of lubrication sprays, everything is peachy.

The 1.8 is magnificent, pulls like crazy, the traction control light on the rev counter is my friend :) Too bad Bucharest is so crowded. MPG sucks though.

It seems only fair that I add the the list so here we go.

The bonnet is a pain in the butt to open on our old Stilo. Never let us down, so not really had to open it, ignored it.

Rear center seat belt sticks sometimes in our old Stilo. Dont use it so I ignored it.

I'm sure there will be things on our Multiwagon but we haven't had it long enough yet to find out what they are.

Argonought you are my hero. After carefully reading all 5 pages of the thread, I came to the conclusion I was greasing the wrong parts.

I was actually thinking the problem came from the hinges but it turns out if was coming from the ball plastic thingie described in the thread.

Took the chain grease spray, pointed the straw to its base and sprayed half the thing in there.. Immediate effect, smooth as a whistle. I never had that clicking sound, so I guess the parts are fine.

I don't care if it comes back, I'm keeping the spray in my boot from now on. :slayer:

I've attached a picture just to see how much grease I've put on everything before having received your help.

I'm gonna get all the pipe-work re-checked on my car. That loud whoosh has to go.

Decided to keep the car so tryna make it as "new" as possible.

My highbeam doesn't work, had a play with fuse box one day and after accidently pulling the fuse for the dash and replacing it the high beam was working, drove to work later that night, flicked on the high beam, nothing. I give up :p. That and the drivers side headlight motor constantly whirring, the light is stuck in position so alignment isn't blinding anyone. I've got about 6 months until my MOT so I'll worry about them closer to the time :p.

yeah, it's just that the alignment motor is stuck and/or knackered, try pulling the motor out and replacing it and see if that sorts it, if not it's most likely a new motor. Part is around £60 or so I think.

Hope this helps
Johnny
