Technical Ignition switch not engaging starter motor?

Recently bought a 1983 Ducato based camper.

First outing this weekend went well except when putting the ignition key into the ignition it did not always engage the starter.

All lights are working and battery is fine. After a few turning on and off the engine then fires up.

Any suggestions where to start looking?

Bad earth/lose connection on the starter?
Ignition switch?
Something else?

Check lead ( live ) to starter motor and earth to engine
