Technical Ignition Key Reprogramming

My 2004 Doblo 1.9JTD is in desperate need of a new ignition barrel. So being an enviromentally friendly type of chap (read tight) I decided to get a used one!

On fitting it the engine will turn over but won't fire, which I assume is key transponder related.

Can I re-programme the key transponder or is there something else I need to do?

Try sticking your original key on the same key ring, it might just pick up the signal?

If you open the old key,the transponder looks like one of them old tablets..contact 100's?? take it out and put it in the new key job done (or maybee???)
