General idling speed

I have a v reg cinq and the idling speed is driving me up the wall.:bang:
After starting up go about 3 miles, then come to a junction then the
fun starts it starts to rev up then die down and keeps doing this while
you are waiting to pull out and sometimes it will just rev high, then have
to turn the engine off and start again.
But then other times when i go out the car runs as normal
Can someone help me please

i assume you mean seicento.. you could take a look at the throttle position sensor.. or the throttle cable. make sure its got a bit of slack in at idle

same engine.. how did you get a cinq on a V reg.. the crossover was on the R to S reg

ooops sorry it's a p reg i also have a fait motorhome which is v reg,
senior moment
