I am having some problems with the idle speed on my 2001 1.6 PETROL Multi.

The issue is that it often stalls when 'blipping' the throttle slightly especially when reversing - the engine stalls. Otherwise, it runs well.

I have put on a new coil pack/plugs and a new Crank sensor - still no joy. I have also cleaned out the throttle body with cleaning spray (not too bad in appearance).

My next thought was to remove/clean/replace the idle speed actuator in the throttle body - however, I can't see how to remove it as it does not seem to be bolted on with the 2 small bolts shown on the e-learn maintenance cd I have. In fact, I can't see how it IS attached at all.

I attach a couple of photos of the valve at the back of the throttle housing - does any kind soul out there know how I can remove this please? I don't want to try and force it as I am concerned it will break.

Thanks!

Re: Idle speed actuator - help still needed please!

I know the 1.6 Petrol Multi was not that popular, but I would have thought that someone must have some experience of working on the throttle body - especially the idle speed sensor that sits in it?

I can't see how you are supposed to get to it to clean it/change it - the other types I've seen on the web all seem to be bolted on with 2 screws, but mine (a 2001 version) does not seem to have these? In fact, I still can't see how the part is attached to the Throttle body? Unless its an 'integral' part and can't be removed?

If that's the case, it's going to be expensive!!!

Help fellow Multi owners!
